Jim Munroe says
Milton was the professor for my two homiletics classes at VTS. They were by far the most important classes of my seminary career. Milton’s teaching of preaching led me into an understanding of and experience of grace that I had not known before. Those two classes have informed my entire ministry. I thank the Lord for the gift of Milton.

Williams Family says
Condolences to the Crum family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says God, “heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.” May God bring you comfort and peace.
Peter E. Shumway says
We became acquainted with Milton through Clemson College and University in 1964 as young newly weds and students through his student ministry at the Episcopal church in Clemson, where Milton took us under his wing. We stayed up with his life through his marriage to Kathe and move to West Virginia and spiritually beyond that. Milton was a saint to us.
My graduation from Clemson and University of Tennessee and subsequent permanent position in the Extension Service at University of Georgia kept us in the southeast, but we lost track of Milton. We retired to South Carolina for some twenty two years and have subsequently relocated to Roswell Georgia for our final days.
We are saddened by his passing and know that God holds a special place in heaven for the character Milton built in his disciples here on earth. May he rest in peace. Peter and Pam Shumway

After almost 40 years as a parish priest, Manual on Preaching is still my principal guide for sermons. If I stray from Milton’s model, the sermon is not as good as it could have been. Thank you, teacher and friend.
