John Charles Fischer, 51, has broken free of his earthly burdens in the vastness of Alaska.
Funeral Mass will be held in Helena Montana at 12:10 pm on November 23, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Community, followed by a Reception at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N Montana Avenue, (406) 442-8520.
John was born in Boise, Idaho on November 22, 1963. He graduated from Loyola-Sacred Heart High School in Missoula and continued on to pursue careers in health, education and the trades. John was married to Mary Ellen (Close) Fischer on August 8, 1992.
John’s life was too short to actualize all his dreams and potentials, though he found great success and joy on the LSH Speech Team, playing football, and especially competing in road bike racing throughout the Northwest. His quick wit and imagination entertained many, and his loss has been a great sorrow to his family.
John is survived by his son Andrew John Fischer, and wife Mary Ellen Fischer of Helena Montana; his 4 siblings, William A. (Bill), Catherine, Gretchen and Joseph Fischer of Missoula; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, William Charles Fischer and Joan Sahlen Fuchs Fischer; as well as his sisters Anne and Mary Fischer.
A Funeral Mass will be at 12:10 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Saint Mary Catholic Community, 1700 Missoula Ave. A reception will immediately follow at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home in the social hall, 3750 N. Montana Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Joan Fischer Children’s Fund c/o 301 W Alder St Missoula MT 59802.

I was so sorry to hear about John’s passing. He was always quick with a joke or a comment, had a pet name for everybody, and was an eternal optimist. I can hardly ever remember talking to John without a smile on his face. My deepest sympathy to his family. He will be missed.
