Nichodemus “Nick” Vetsch, longtime resident of East Helena passed away peacefully on April 8, 2018.
Nick, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Balta, North Dakota to Simon and Katherine Vetsch on March 3, 1929. Nick married Regina Koenig in Rugby on June 27, 1949. Nick and Jean moved to Montana where they raised their three children in East Helena.
He was a long-time member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Parish in East Helena. His zest for life will be remembered by us all. His generous and loyal spirit will be missed. Nick was a “spark plug” to his family.
Before retiring in 1984 Nick worked for the Federal Reserve Bank. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and “watching his birds,” especially the hummers. Nick was a hard worker and took great pride in his home and yard landscaping.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Jean; his daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Bill Stephenson; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lanae Vetsch; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Lingohr of Billings, Mary Ann Plettenberg of East Helena, and Gertrude Bouchey and husband Ray of Elmo; and brother Leonard and his wife JoAnne of Arizona.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services for the family will be at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in East Helena on Thursday, April 12th at 11:00 a.m. Family prefers memorials to Sts.
