Richard D. Greene, age 63, of Townsend passed away November 30, 2016 in his sleep at home almost 6 months to the day after his beloved Donna passed.
Richard was born September 7, 1953 in Aspen, Colorado to Edward L. and Lorene (Hogle) Greene. He considered New Castle, Colorado his home. He entered active duty with the United States Army on January 28, 1971, serving in Germany with a tank unit and he was honorably discharged on November 17, 1972.
Richard married Donna Rude in Rifle, Colorado on November 15, 1978. They spent every waking hour together working, at the ranch, raising the kids and spending time with the grandkids. He was a butcher and owned his own meat locker and he was a flooring specialist owning his own flooring business and contracting with Lowe’s. Richard was a member of several hunting and fishing programs.
Richard lived and breathed hunting and fishing, teaching his children and grandkids the “Greene Way”. He had the best elk jerky in the world. He was a horse whisperer and knew how to break a horse better than anyone. Rich was an urban, redneck cowboy with a ZZ Top beard and a Duck Dynasty attitude. He loved to tell stories and share dirty jokes, and did not take life to seriously. Rich always made you feel welcome at the ranch with love, drinks and bullshit’n for everyone. He loved his family unconditionally and had moose hugs and bear hugs for the kids and grandkids with a big bear growl to follow.
Richard is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Donna (June 1, 2016); his son Richard D. Greene Jr.; his parents, and his brother Bill Greene. He is survived by his children, Nikia (April) Greene, Jason (Casey) Greene; Tammy Wilson, and Heidi Brown; his grandchildren, Taylar Greene, Mason Greene, Hope Greene, Kayden Greene, Gavin Greene, Mariah Allen, Makayla Wilson, Elijah Allen, Payton Wilson, Faith Brown, and Destiny Brown. He is also survived by his siblings, Joan Spaulding, Barbara Green, Pat Dralle, Jerry Greene, Jim Greene, and his lifelong friend Rodrick.
