Robert Alan Mishler
May 25, 1975 – February 20, 2016
Robert “Bob” Mishler’s light was forever extinguished on February 20th, 2016 at the age of 40. Robert died in Helena, Montana where he was a recent transplant via Bakersfield, CA. and a multitude of other western states.
Robert was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was the youngest of two sons born to Darrell E. Mishler of Palisade, MN and Irene (McCall) Lindsey of Visalia, CA.
Robert had a subtle and quick-witted sense of humor. He was protective of the people he loved and cherished the friendships he built over the years. He was genuinely interested in what others had to say and brought light to those who were around him. He had a strong sense of what was right and wrong, and when he erred, he was harder on himself than anyone else could be.
As a teenager, Robert grew tired of his working Dad’s quick box meals; he was given carte blanche to do the cooking. He developed a love of cooking and after years of working in the restaurant industry, he attended and graduated from culinary school in Santa Monica, CA. Roberts’s life long career and passion was creating great tasting food that was also beautifully presented, and he succeeded. He also was a tremendous baker and dessert maker, though ironically, he didn’t like sweets, and his slender frame showed it.
Robert generally enjoyed quieter pursuits like reading, playing board games, and creating new recipes. However, when his Denver Broncos were playing, he was animated. His phone calls would come after a game and a discussion would ensue regarding the reasons they lost or a celebration of their win. When playing cribbage with him, Robert would turn it into a competitive sport, complete with teasing and smack talk. He, his Dad, and Grandfather could play cribbage for hours.
Robert and his brother, William (deceased), were each other’s best friend. Whether they lived close together or states apart, they were always there for each other, in life as in death. Robert was very protective of his big brother.
Robert was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carol Thomas Mishler, as well as his maternal grandparents, Leona and Samuel McCall. Roberts’s brother, William was with him when they both were taken from their family and friends.
Robert is survived by his father, Darrell Mishler (married to Maureen McCarthy Mishler), his mother, Irene (McCall) Lindsey, and his paternal grandfather, Ken Mishler (Kay) as well as a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Waukenabo Town Hall in Palisade, Minnesota on April 30th, 2016 at 1:00pm. A graveside service will follow at the Waukenabo Cemetery. Robert will be laid to rest alongside his brother, William.
Special thanks to the Lewis and Clark District Attorney’s office, Helena Police Department and Coroner’s office for their help and support.

Robert was a special friend to me. He often had me stop by Latte’s and Sundae’s to try one of the specials he was proud of. On my birthday in December he bought and cooked me my favorite sandwich from Latte’s and Sundae’s. He was genuinely concerned when he found out I had surgery on February 5th and he made it a point to check on me several times afterward.. I will miss his smile and his wonderful stories. He would often tell stories about the adventures he and his brother had growing up, the time he spent in culinary school, and I don’t think we had a single conversation where he did not talk about working at Sundae’s and Latte’s. He loved working there and he truly loved his co-workers.
I miss you very much, Robert and, although it was brief, I treasure friendship.

Robert is my beloved nephew and will always reside in my heart. I spent allot of time with him and his brother William when they were small – helping around my brothers house with the kids. Now they’re both just looking out for one another and keeping an eye on their family who miss them immensely. Love you dude! Love, your crazy Aunt Pam!

Bobby, I miss you. Thank you for being such a fun and carefree best friend growing up all those years ago. We sure had some awesome times every summer growing up. I wonder if spring will ever feel the same again, since you were taken. I love and miss you, Bobby. Thanks for being such a cool cousin and such an amazing best friend.
