At 6:20 AM on August 31st the Lord called my sweetheart…my love…my husband…my best friend home to be with him in Heaven. Where there is no more suffering and no more pain…only great joy, peace and happiness. For four years and nine months Steve fought with Pancreatic Cancer with courage, dignity and honor. He was an inspiration because he always had a good outlook on life and never ever asked “why me”. He was a kind, considerate, loving husband, brother, uncle and friend; always quick to lend a hand.
He had a great work ethic with integrity, honesty and compassion. His work as an electrician and electrical contractor for over 20 years was by reputation word of mouth advertising. He enjoyed life with his wife and had many hobbies: Old cars, fast cars, anything drag racing, gold panning, fishing, hunting and traveling. He had a quick wit and a wonderful dry since of humor.
Steve will be greatly missed by his wife Kimberly (Reed) Lane of 38 years, mother Aurora Slape-Lane, mother-in-law Maggie Homolka, brother’s Don Lane (Julio), brother-in-law Gary (Robin), sister’s Melody (Ron) Kelly, Bonnie Lacina, Patti Hanson (Donny), Pam Odell (Gary), Brenda Kelly, sister-in-law Kathy Reed (Terry). Nieces: Genny, Michelle (Jason), Nikki (Jason), Tiffany, Katelyn. Nephews: Ronnie, Danny, Michael (Anquinita), Daniel (Joanne), Patrick (Charlsie), Kristoffer, Kelly (Kayleigh), Casey (Anna), Dale, Colter, Dane…and many Great Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by his loving parents Don Lane and Jo Ann Kelly.
Our hearts are broken, but his spirit and love will keep us until we meet up with him again in Heaven.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today, September 2nd at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. at South Hills Baptist Fellowship, 12 Johns St., Clancy, MT 59634. Kim, I am so truly sorry to read of Steve’s passing. I always enjoyed having Steve come into my office to get Electrical Permits. He always had a kind word and smile. He fought his cancer with dignity and bravery. This world was a better place because of Steve and heaven is a brighter spot with him there. May the love and memories you shared with Steve bring you comfort and peace in the days to come. God Bless You

We are so sorry to hear about Steve. He fought a brave and courageous battle.
May it help you all to know how much we share in your grief. Now Steve is in Heaven
Resting in the arms of Jesus. We will remember All of You in Our Thoughts & Prayers.
To Kim: You will feel the loss of Steve even more. May You feel all the love and comfort from
Others in this time of grief. God Bless You . God Bless to Each one of You. We Love You Dearly.

Steve did electrical work for us several years ago. He was so kind and friendly. My mom still has his number up on her cupboard door (& she’s 88) just in case she would ever need him again. He did excellent work. He was building your house back then and so excited. I always looked over at your house whenever we went back and forth to Townsend. We did not know he had been sick however, I can imagine that he was at peace and had such grace about accepting his illness. May you find peace in your heart knowing that he is now with Jesus. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

My fondest memory of Steve was watching him when he was looking at Kim when he thought no one was looking. He would tilt his head just so, give her a smile and a wink. When I think of Steve, I think of that moment, it always makes me smile – after all the years as husband and wife, you could tell she was his one and only. Although I only saw him do this once or twice, it touched my heart to see his love for Kim, and I always looked away so as not to intrude on a private moment between a husband and a wife. And now, Steve will watch out for Kim from Heaven and I know, he’ll tilt his head just so, smile and wink – to tell her, he loves her so.

Kim, My deepest sympathies for the loss of your Steve. I remember fondly the joy in your eyes talking about Steve and the wonderful trips you both would take, building the house, and running the business. I pray that those memories remind you of your shared love and bring you peace and comfort during this time. And that when the days are difficult you lean on the Lord and his love and abiding presence remebering that He is with us until the very end of the age when we will all be united together in heaven.

We met Steve a few years ago when building at our homesite. We met you, Kim, at HD last year, while Steve was there looking for supplies for our project. His friendly help and kitchen conversations with us are great memories. We were very impressed with his skills, knowledge, tenacity, attitude on life and endurance. Know that we share in your sorrow, and will miss him. Your family is in our thoughts and hearts in at this difficult time.

Dear Kim,
I’m so sorry to hear about Steve’s passing. He was such a great guy, and I know you miss him tremendously. I’m sorry this note is very late, but I didn’t hear the bad news until this past summer from Alex and Cathy Dongallo. I don’t know if this note will make it to you, but I love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Jack Robbins
