William Andrew Mishler
July 16, 1973 – February 20, 2016
William “Billy” Mishler’s laughter was forever quieted on February 20th, 2016 at the age of 42. Helena, Montana was where he died and the most recent place he called home. Billy, a vagabond at heart, was drawn to mountain states and communities.
Billy was born in Downey, California. He is the eldest of two sons born to Darrell Mishler of Palisade, MN. and Irene (McCall) Lindsey of Visalia, CA.
Billy had a worldview that included always finding the positive in life despite the struggles he faced. He laughed often and loudly, made friends easily, and had an inherent trust of people. He had a generous heart and a laid-back spirit.
As a young man, Billy proudly followed in the footsteps of his father and both grandfathers by joining the military. It’s also the last time his hair was short. The Army gave him the opportunity to learn to work on large machines and military vehicles. Billy appreciated hard work, whether it was as a mechanic, a roofing foreman, or, most recently, at a home building supply store. He valued the new friendships made and, of course, the paycheck.
He loved being outdoors whether it was hiking, camping, fishing or sitting around a campfire telling jokes and stories spiked with lots of laughter. His laughter was infectious; we shall miss that about him.
More than anything, Billy enjoyed hanging out with his brother, Robert (deceased), who also happened to be his best friend. Billy and Robert were together in death as they were throughout their lives. They were very protective of one another.
Billy was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carol Thomas Mishler, as well as his maternal grandparents, Leona and Samuel McCall. His brother, Robert, was with Billy when they were both taken from their family & friends.
Billy is survived by his father, Darrell Mishler (married to Maureen McCarthy Mishler), his mother, Irene (McCall) Lindsey and his paternal grandfather, Ken Mishler (Kay) and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at Waukenabo Town Hall in Palisade, Minnesota on April 30th, 2016, at 1:00pm. A graveside service will follow at the Waukenabo Cemetery. Billy will be laid to rest alongside his brother, Robert.
Special thanks to the Lewis and Clark District Attorney’s office, Helena Police Department and Coroner’s office.

Bill & I were married briefly. It didn’t work between us but I never wished him harm. I’m so sorry this happened to you & Bobby. Your family is in my prayers. I pray also that justice for the guy who did this comes swiftly. Rest in peace with our Lord Bill & Bobby Mishler.

Can’t stop thinking of you guys lately. You were both the best childhood friends a girl could have! I miss those sweet times with both of you. You really were the best cousins. I said goodbye so long ago when you left to go live with your dad, but I just want you to know that I love and miss you.
