Aimee “Maimers” Jolynd Wilkerson, age 22, passed away in her family home on Wednesday, March 5th. Although cancer dominated her body, her spirit never gave up.
Aimee lived in Bozeman with her husband, persistent high school sweetheart and Lego partner, Alex Fadness. She was the fourth (and most chaotic) of six siblings.
Aimee lived and loved with all her heart. She was the type of person who would hit up a rollercoaster with her husband immediately after a major surgery. She took increasingly unhinged selfies with her younger sisters and always won games of Killer Bunny. Growing up, she was the toddler that would chase her pestering older brother around threatening to hit him with her cast. Every cat Aimee met was immediately her friend and she doted on her sensitive giant of a cat, Bruce.
Aimee’s life was dedicated to being as weird as socially acceptable in every moment. She fostered a deep appreciation of invertebrates, Hollow Knight, anime, and flipping people off (which means ‘love ya man’ in Lythgoe-ese). She worked as a supervisor and barista while pursuing a degree in psychology at Montana State University. Even as cancer ravaged her body, she continued her studies so that she could help others by becoming a therapist.
Aimee was not shy about making the most of her life. She spent her energy dancing exuberantly to Mother Mother, laughing uncontrollably at her friends’ nonsense, and getting aesthetic manicures.
Aimee, you will be missed every moment of every day. You are truly one of the ‘Greats’. You have taught us so much about being alive and being who you are. Your empathy and understanding touched so many lives, and we are all better people for having known you. We look forward to seeing you again someday.
Aimee is survived by her husband, Alex Fadness of Helena, MT; her mother, Mikal Wilkerson of Helena, MT; her father, Trevor Wilkerson of Havre, MT; and her siblings, Taylor (Sam Askin), TJ, Bryndon, Jeri and Jaidyn Wilkerson of Helena and Bozeman, MT. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marcia Holt Lythgoe and Tom Lythgoe of Helena, MT and her precious old man cat, Bruce “Bruce Boy” of Bozeman, MT.

Aimee was a one of a kind person that I will forever be grateful I got to know, even a little. Her laugh could genuinely light up a room, and she lived and loved boldly. She touched my heart (and many others) in a way that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Jeffrey Nelson says
Aimee was amazing. I am her advisor and every time we’d meet to discuss her classes and progress, I was so struck by her strength and persistence. She was realistic with herself, but it was never a question of if she’d earn her degree. Speaking with her, we never met for very long, but her intelligence, and strength were so apparent. I was so impressed with who she was and I greatly respect her.
Tami L. Hanson says
Aimee has the most special spirit. She laughed with her whole body, she lived with her whole heart & she was a light in every room she walked into. Her life may have been shorter than we want, but her spirit will live on in all of us who has the privilege to be touched in any way by her. I love you Aimee & can’t wait to see you & hug you again.

Aimee brought a smile to my classroom from the moment she walked in until the final bell rang. Her unique perspectives, insights, leadership, compassion for classmates and sassy sense of humor will stay with me for years. My love and condolences to all.

Oh sweet Aimee! I will always remember her soft spoken voice, big smile and infectious laugh! I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to not only teach Aimee but to have become a better person for knowing Aimee! She truly cared about everyone, teaching me to be more patient and understanding of others. The world is so small and I have been blessed to have a little bit of Aimee in my classroom again with her younger sisterJaidyn! Such kind young ladies! My thoughts and prayers are with Jaidyn, Aimee’s husband and the rest of the Wilkerson family! Keep living her legacy of kindness, strength and positivity!

I was blessed to have Aimee as a student in one of my first years teaching. She was smart and witty with a big heart and dry sense of humor. She was beloved by kids and adults alike. When she graduated 8th grade, she gifted me a stuffed bladder; one of my earliest gifts from a student. When I asked what it was, in typical Aimee fashion, she said with a straight face, ‘it’s a bladder…you know, cuz you’re a science teacher.’ I still have that stuffy.
She will be missed. My prayers go out to her family in this difficult time.
