    Martha and family,
It is with great sadness that I heard about Al’s passing. Not only did I have the opportunity to meet and converse with both of you through the Blackfoot Brewery, but was fortunate to have been able to work with Al at MDT for the last couple of years. Al will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time. Here’s a toast to Al!

I was sad to hear of Al’s passing. He was a student of mine at Montana State for many years in Political Science and Public Administration. We always seemed to connect in every class. He was exceptionally sensitive to what I tried to do in my courses and we had many good discussions outside of class. I felt he was a good friend even though we did not see one another very much. We also shared a love of music and worked for many, many years on the air at KGLT-FM. My sympathies in your loss. I will miss him.

I had the privilege of hanging out with Al on many a Friday night over the last 9 years at KGLT. First, as an apprentice hanging out in the studio and later following his show. I’m going to miss the Bob Marley opener, the free form flow of his show that always had a common seed and also the insane mess of CDs I had to wade through when 9:00 rolled around and it was my turn on the mic.

Al and I had many conversations about life, work, dogs, politics and music. One of my favorite KGLT fund drive memories was when I sat in with Al and Rune a few years back. I’m going to miss the heck out of Al. I hope to follow his example and do my shift at KGLT until I’m called to join him. My condolences to all who knew and loved Al.

    Martha and family,
I am so saddened with the loss of Al. He always had such refreshing angles and insights into all kinds of issues ranging from politics to sports (Go Bobcats!!) to work. He showed great courage in his fight against cancer and handled it extremely well. Very courageous and never burdened anyone or complained throughout. I’m very proud to say I was a friend of his.

    Martha, Boys, Dog,
I’m sure you know that Al had many friends from all walks of life. We worked together and would go to lunch most days talking politics, sports, and cars, the usual. Al’s love of the 2 door sports car never faded. Every once and a while we’d go get a beer outside of work and have a few laughs with that quirky sense of humor he had. His stories of driving the taxi never got old. He was most proud of you, his family. In true “Al fashion” he would never brag or boast about accomplishments as many parents do. He would simply mention in passing how things were going or what you were doing. I can’t tell you how much respect I had for him for little things like that. He was as tough as they come and we could all do well to live by that example. I’m honored to have known him.

Al and I worked together at MDT for several years and I always found him to be ready to help in any way possible, funny, charming, always said ‘good morning’ and ‘how are you?’ and cared about the answer. You’ll miss him so much and I’m so sorry.

    Martha and Sons –
I was very saddened to hear of Al’s passing. As you may know — I’ve worked with Al since the beginning of my career at MDT and truly enjoyed our visits about family, life and random thoughts on our many day trips to Montana communities around the state. He truly valued you, his family, and was quite humble in his job despite that fact that he’s been the expert in the state in travel demand modeling for years and years. He will be missed!!
Hugs and prayers to all of you–

    Martha and sons,
Very surprised to hear of Al’s passing. I will always remember all the good times I spent with you and Al and the rest of the group of freinds that we hung out with in the mid 80’s while attending MSU, as well as the teepee gathering at my wedding when Rune was just a little boy. Take care, my thoughts are with you.

    Hi Martha,
Wow – what a shocker. So many memories of you all. Radio, BBQ’s, football, hangin’ with Al and Flash on stools, playing pool at the Haufbrau, swimming in the Gallatin, KGLT fund drives, long talks, good times. Been awhile since I’ve been in touch with him, but he will always be in my thoughts, you as well.

    Heh Martha,

so sorry to hear about Al.

Man, did we all had some fun times on the porch on Lindley Place 30 years ago , drinking Mickies wide mouths and watching MASH !

Al used to visit me before his shows on Friday nites when I was in the computer room in Renne Library Basement. Those days are long gone, but thanks Al for keeping up the friendship !

May there be Lanny burgers from the Hauf in heaven for you Al !

I am so sorry to see that Mr. Vander Wey has passed away in death. Please accept my family’s condolences. May your hearts find peace and comfort from the Bible’s promise at John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 that very soon God is going to resurrect back to life on earth our loved ones who have passed away in death so that we can be reunited with them as well as Revelation chatper 21 verse 4 which promises that soon death will be no more.

My condolences on your loss of Alan,
The pain of losing a loved one can be overwhelming.

Our heavenly Father promises us that very soon he will ‘swallow up death forever, and wipe the tears from all faces’ Isaiah 25:8.

What a wonderful future hope that is.

There is much Bible based comfort to be found on the website http://www.jw.org
