Albert Evan Irvin, age 69 of Townsend, MT, entered into the presence of Jesus, his Savior, on August 18, 2021. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor.
Al was born on September 27, 1951 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Wilber E. Irvin and Lorraine M. Williams Irvin. He was the third of five children. Al spent his growing up years in New York and he graduated from Vestal High School in Apalachin, New York in 1970. After moving to New Jersey, he met his life-long sweetheart Joyce Ritter. They were married on July 19, 1975. After marrying, Al and Joyce lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania where Al managed several Grossman’s Lumber stores. While in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, their three children were born – Jason, Jamie, and Lucas. Al decided to move the family to Montana in 1982. Over the next several years he managed sawmills and sold insurance around the state. In 2005, he and his son, Lucas, decided to go in to the construction business together and they formed H&H Custom Buildings. He continued to work this business up until the time the Lord called him home. Al enjoyed watching old war movies, spending time with the family and riding motorcycles. Because Al always enjoyed a challenge, in his later years he traded motorcycling for flying airplanes and restoring a 1958 super cub. He also was involved in missions work in Costa Rica.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Fayette. He is survived by his brother, Gary; sister, Nancy; brother, Ron; wife, Joyce; his three children; and seven grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Anderson Stevenson Wilke funeral home in Helena on Thursday, September 2, 2021 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 5 Friendship Ln., Montana City, MT. Joyce, Jason, Jamie & Lucas & families:
I am so sorry to learn of Al’s passing. When he hired me on at RY Timber, it was a new chapter in my life. I learned a lot from him, and always had great respect for him. I was sad to see him leave the mill, but life was taking him on a new path. I never knew where I would run into him next or what he would be doing, but we always had a nice visit. I am thankful tor the chance to know him and call him friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

To the Irvin Family,
I am so sorry to hear that Al has gone on before us! He was an awesome individual, full of energy with a God-given gift of wisdom. I was amazed at all the sound ideas he came up with relating to marketing and various business ventures.
Al was very solid in his walk with the Lord, wanting to please the Lord in all he did. I will miss the deep conversation we had, in regard to that. He left all of us an example of how we should live our lives.
We will continue to pray for the strength your family needs right now to get through these days.
