Alberta Louella Dance Nave passed away on July 25, 2012 at the Cooney Convalescent Home in Helena at the age of 96.
She was born on July 8, 1916 in Three Forks, MT to Asbury (Al) and Jewell Dance. Alberta attended school in East Helena and then graduated from Helena High School in 1935. After the earth quake in the fall of 1935, Alberta , her mother and her two sisters moved to Butte for a year with her dad staying in East Helena to work. The whole family then moved to Townsend where Alberta spent the remainder of her life.
In 1936, she married Omer Boeh and daughter Geraldine was born in 1937. They later divorced. In 1945, she married Sherlock Nave and in 1948 a son, James was born. They farmed near Lone Mountain until Sherlock’s death in 1980. During that time, she drove grain trucks, raised gardens and was a homemaker and later worked for the Superintendent of Schools. Alberta then was employed with the Dept of Human Services and retired in 1978. Alberta did a lot of traveling and dancing with her companion Phil Larsen of Rudyard, Montana whom she met on a trip to Nashville. She was a member of the Townsend Episcopal Church for many years. She resided at BHC for the last 3 years and received and appreciated the loving care she received.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her companion, Phil; her sisters, Dixie and Kathryn and grandson, Avery and his wife Dana. Alberta is survived by her daughter, Geraldine of Townsend and son James (Sheila) of Geyserville, CA; granddaughter, Lolee of Livingston; grandson, Bret of Argentina and Bart of Ogden, UT; seven great grandchildren; one great great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

I wanted to say how I enjoyed my visits with your mom when I would go to see my mom, Mary Kelley. She was always very sweet to me. Praying God gives you many fond memories. sorry I’m late, was away for my moms memorial.

Geraldine & Jim, Just want you to know how much I enjoyed visiting with your Mom each time I went to the Broadwater Nursing Home and then for a few short days at Cooney. She always had a smile and a wave. We had something in common (which she had forgotten, of course)in that I took over being the Broadwater Missouri Water Users Secretary after her 25 years of service. She was a sweet lady and I enjoyed her very much.
