Alice Annetta Dietrich passed away peacefully on March 2 at St Peter’s Hospital. She had been living in an assisted care living environment in her home for the past five years.
She was born in Marsh, Montana to John and Carrie (Karoline) Krenzler Deg on January 11, 1919. Alice was delivered by her grandmother, a Montana pioneer nurse. Alice attended schools in Glendive and Sidney, Montana. During her senior year, the family moved to Oregon, where she graduated from Newberg Union High School.

Prior to that, she operated Tiny Tot Nursery, worked for Sundry Shops 1957-1966; and Crippled Children’s Hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota, 1952-1954.
Alice was a wonderful storyteller. She was raised on a dryland farm in eastern Montana during the 20’s and 30’s. Stories about her youth were great entertainment.
Alice was an avid bowler. She was always proud of being a team member of the 1976 Montana State Championship Bowling Team. She liked to read and crochet, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
She met and married John Dietrich on August 19, 1939 in Lodi, California. The family moved to Helena from South Dakota in 1954. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Dennis Ogle, East Helena; daughters Diane Tripp, Helena, and Kathleen Dietrich, Madison, Wisconsin, a son John Dietrich, Helena, and a brother Art Deg, Sidney, Montana.
