Alice Beverly Copeland Lewis, 89, passed away December 24, 2025, in Helena, Montana of natural causes with loving family by her side.
Alice was born May 26, 1936 to William and Vada Copeland in Glasgow, Montana. Mom lived a bit of a gypsy life with her mother and siblings after the passing of her father. She recounted that through her elementary and high school years she transferred schools 21 times! That life gave Mom the love of travel and adventure while her mother and siblings traveled Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oregon.
Mom married Gary M. Ross in November of 1954 in Glasgow. They divorced in June 1975. After her girls were graduated from high school and found the love of their lives, Mom moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the fall of 1978. It was there she met Bobby Lewis and found love again. They were married December 20, 1980.
The marriage to Bob took her further south when they moved to Onalaska, Texas. Their last move was to Del Rio, Texas where they lived until Bob’s death in August of 2016. Mom then relocated to Montana in order be near her daughters and their families.
Mom is survived by her daughters Lisa Cummings (Mark) of Helena and Melodi Wald (Doug) of Great Falls, Montana, sister Ruby Stewart of Rathdrum, ID and stepchildren Steve Lewis, John Lewis and Bobbie Scraper all of Texas as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, infant daughter Sheila Marie and brothers Roy Johnson and Robert and Lee Copeland.
A memorial service will be planned for the summer of 2026.
