In Memory Of

Alice Marie Lewis

June 3, 1950 – April 3, 2012

Alice Marie (Johnson) Lewis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt went to be with Lord on April 3, 2012.

Alice was born June 3, 1950 in Bozeman, MT to Melvin and Edna Johnson. She was raised on her family farm in Helena, Montana with 12 siblings.

She shared many fun memories such as being chased down the road by a pack of pecking chickens and joining in on the family baseball games. She married the love of her life Richard Lewis in 1969. They made their home in Helena where they raised two loving daughters, Windy Olson and April Davis. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Steffani and Tyler Olson. Alice was a wonderful cook and enjoyed creating a Christmas Feast for the Johnson family. Alice loved adventures. She could have an adventure in Istanbul or traveling between Havre and Helena and somehow ending up on the runway of Malmstrom Air Force Base – True Story. Alice enjoyed dressing-up and attending formal cruise events as well as hanging out with her brother, Steve, at the Fur Trapper Rendezvous. She made numerous trips to various gambling establishments throughout the United States. Her favorite place was the Wendover Nugget Casino. She is fondly remembered by her grandson, Tyler, who received a letter detailing her Blackjack Secrets on his 21st birthday. She loved playing games whether it was pinochle, monopoly, or the world famous Johnson family poker. Her joy for life will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Alice was preceded in death by her father: Melvin Johnson, in-laws: Renee Johnson, Dickie Stein, Ed Molyneaux, and nephew: Matthew Linder.

Alice is survived by her loving husband Richard Lewis, daughters and son in-laws: Windy and Dan Olson and April and Aubrey Davis, grandchildren: Tyler and Steffani Olson, Mother: Edna Johnson, siblings: Don, Bitsy Stein, Margaret (Vern) Miller, Carol Molyneaux, Tom, Cindy (Jimmy) Wollenberg, David (Brenda), Steve, Ed (Millie), Lora, Dora (Mike) Lindner and Melva (Keith) Fowler, and a partridge in a pear tree.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church with a reception to follow at the service hall downstairs. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery at 4 p.m. To offer condolences or share a memory of Alice, please visit: www.retzfuneralhome.com.

Alice was always so warm and welcoming to the high school group. So many fond float construction memories with Alice making breakfast for everyone in the morning at the crack of dawn.
She never minded 20 teenagers running around her house with paint, power tools and glitter.

Iam so sorry to hear about Alice. I was utterly shocked when i read the funeral notice in the newspaper. I have enjoyed being Alices’ hairdresser for the past 3 years and I have loved every one of her travel stories when she came to Platinum Salon. She was a wonderful, wonderful person and I will truly miss her. My heart goes out to her whole family.

I was so sad to hear about Alice. We had such fun while working together at HMS.We would decide on Friday to take a road trip to Spokane for the weekend (April was going to Gonzaga)and off we would go!Coming back one weekend we ran into a terrible snow storm (June 3rd!)Due to road conditions and the closure of McDonald pass we were rerouted to Deerlodge…after checking into the last motel room available we walked next door with snow and slush up to our knees to a restaurant where we tried somewhat to have a nice dinner for her birthday…her steak was as tough as the weather outside and we were wet up to our knee’s! She loved to shop in Spokane,go to “good” restaurants and we played a little keno and poker.I will never forget her (giggle)…Dick,Windy,April, Margaret and family,I’m so sorry for your loss,I hold many memories close to my heart.God bless you all.
