In Loving Memory of Allyn Kelbar, affectionately known as Papo, departed this world to join our Heavenly Father on December 8, 2023. We celebrate his life and the roles he embraced as husband, father, and grandfather.
Allyn, the brother of the late Daryle and brother-in-law of Teiko, is survived by his devoted wife Marlene, caring sister Janice, daughter Michelle, son-in-law Steve, and cherished grandchildren: Brandon and Jessica, Andrew, Jacob, and Lauren.
Born in Minnesota and raised in California, Allyn found his purpose as a young adult in the Navy as a serviceman, dedicating himself to his country. He learned many skills as a laborer in his youth working as a machinist and hydraulics apprentice and as an aircraft and marine electrician. These jobs afforded him the opportunity later in life to build his home with his own hands, showcasing his talents as a skilled carpenter and provider for his family.
Having made his life in Montana, California and Alaska, Allyn’s journey was one of resilience and accomplishment. From a letter carrier to the esteemed position of postmaster, receiving numerous awards for a job well done.
His passion for fast cars was epitomized by his red Pontiac Firebird, a source of joy and the occasional street race with those passing by. His fondness for animals extended to his pets and the wildlife on his property, where he found solace in the outdoors. Allyn had a love for boating and spent memorable times in Alaska, fishing for halibut and salmon.
A man of diverse interests, Allyn enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and hunting. His hobbies included fly-tying and loading bullets. He took pride in watching his grandchildren excel in football, volleyball, basketball, and finding immense joy in their achievements.
Generosity defined Allyn. He extended a helping hand to the homeless, embodying the spirit of compassion. Despite facing four fires, including one that claimed the home he built, Allyn’s resilience prevailed. Tragically, he lost his beloved cats (kids) in one incident, an event that deeply saddened him.
Allyn’s legacy is one of love and laughter. His Sundays were dedicated to watching football and family gatherings filled with good food and fun which brought him immeasurable joy. In his memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived and remember the man whose kindness touched the lives of many.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Allyn will then be laid to rest with military honors at Forestvale Cemetery. Following the burial, please join the family back at the funeral home in the Social Hall for a reception.
