Aloysius (Al) Stanley Marcinek (95), passed away on June 23, 2014. Dad was born to Polish immigrants Franciszek and Jozefina Marcinek on January 31, 1919, in East Chicago, Indiana. He grew up on the family dairy farm in Dorr, Michigan, the fifth of eight children. Dad was an outstanding baseball and football player in high school. Our grandfather bribed dad into staying home and working on the family farm for a year during the great depression. His hard work earned him a shotgun!
In 1946 at a barn dance, he met Dorothy Loranz, who happened to be visiting her cousin. They were married April 19, 1947 in Helena, Montana. They were married for 67 years. They lived in Dorr, Michigan, Hollywood, California, and ended up in Helena, Montana. Dad was a plumber by trade and retired in 1983. They raised five children, Bob, John, Jean, Mary and Carla. Family was everything to him. He supported all of our activities whether in teaching us to play a sport, or building fields for football, or just watching us play here and away. He took us camping, boating, and on long family trips east to visit family (and they were long)! Dad enjoyed polka dancing with mom, bowling, fishing and golfing, which resulted in a hole in one at Bill Roberts Golf Course on August 23, 1981 at the age of 62!
Surviving Dad is our Mom, Dorothy of Helena and his sister Lucy Fifelski of Dorr, Michigan. Son Bob (Catlin) Marcinek of Great Falls; son John (Susan) Marcinek of Helena; daughter Jean (John) Horne of Helena; daughter Mary (Scott) Emge of Helena; and daughter Carla (Shannon) Scott of Mead, Washington; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dad is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank the Touchmark staff. Funeral services will be held at Anderson Wilke Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Dad was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Cathedral of St. Helena. Donations may be made to one of them in his honor.

Doug & Deb Kralicek says
We were blessed to have Al and Dorothy as neighbors for many years. I remember many times Al coming to my rescue when Doug was not home and the lawn mower would not start. We had great conversations in the street trying to solve the problems of the world. When doing some renovations at our house, Al could be found supervising Doug in his projects. “Too many people don’t know what they are doing, ” he would say,” I just want to save you some work later on”. I remember looking out the window up the hill through the binoculars and seeing Al look at our house with his. We both waved and went about our business. What a great man. Blessings and prayers to all the family.

Dorothy and Family,
Sending you all prayers of support. Al was a fine man and neighbor and I confirm and celebrate the Kralicek’s sentiments. Al helped me more than once and both Al & Dorothy helped raise our kids. Thanking God for Al in my life.
Randy & Carol Best says
We met Al and Dorothy when they came to live at Hunters Pointe and we were co-managers there. Al was such a kind and gentle man – loved his smile. They were a truly loving and caring couple. We are glad that we got to know both of them, even if it was for just a little while. It’s great to read the stories about the wonderful man he always was.

My father, Harry Smith, spoke often and fondly of Al as they played golf together for many years. I hope they are both enjoying a “round” in their heavenly home. I wish the family my best regards in this time of loss. Sincerly, Leisa Smith

Diane Macaraeg Langenfus says
Bob, John, Jean, Mary and Carla,
I am so sorry not to be able to attend Al’s Service. I found out to late to change commitments. My thoughts and prayer are with all of you, especially for Dorthy at this time.
My father always considered Al his closest friend. Years of bowling, golf, KC picnics, you name it….I remember Al’s tears at my Father’s funeral. I also remember whenever Dad needed anything at all, Al was there to help him out. They sat at eachothers bedside when hospitalized and although we were young when Al almost lost his life to his accident, I remember my Dad Going to Mass daily then to the hospital to check on Al’s progress. Al did the same when Dad fell off a ladder cutting tree limbs and almost cut his hand off.
The last time i saw Dorthy and Al was a party at my home a few years ago. His passing was a shock to Mike and I as the Marcinek and Langenfus families also go back a long way. I have some of their wedding photos if any of the family would like them.
Bless you all and big hugs to you Bob…my childhood buddy….

So sorry to hear about your father’s passing. I always remember seeing your sweet parents at Mass on Sundays. It was fun to see them again at the last high school reunion when I was in Helena. Your father was a well respected and loved man.
