Ann Carpenter Svendsen, age 61, of Helena, lost her battle with cancer on December 21, 2022.
Ann was born December 8, 1961 in Cut Bank, MT, one of two children born to Dorothy F. and Jack G. Carpenter. When she was 6 months old, the family moved to Helena, MT. She graduated from Helena High School in 1980.
Ann worked for First Security Bank out of High School until 1988. In 1988 she went to work for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. While working there she was taking classes at Carroll College and the Helena College of Technology, graduating with a degree in Computer Science.
In 1990 she met and married her best friend Ken N. Svendsen, with whom she shared 32 wonderful years camping, traveling, and enjoying life. In 1995 she went to work for the U.S. Department of Transportation where she worked as a Safety Investigator and later as the State Program Specialist. She retired from there in 2020.
Montana was always home, but Ann loved spending time at their Arizona home also. Especially the orange trees and the swimming pool, she spent hours enjoying both.
Ann enjoyed camping and hiking in the mountains, spending time with their friends, dogs, and more than anything, spending time with Ken.
Ann is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy F. Carpenter. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth N. Svendsen; brother, John (Natasha) Carpenter of Winchester, VA; her father, Jack Carpenter of Sun City, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

LeeAnn Jangula says
Ken, I am so sorry for the loss of Ann. Ann and I met when she started with FMCSA, and we immediately developed a friendship that felt like we had been friends for years before that! Besides being intelligent and having a great sense of humor, Ann was a genuine person who had a strong work ethic but also knew how to have fun and what was important in life. Even when we hadn’t seen eachother or talked in awhile, when we would get together it was as if not one day had gone by! I have a voicemail on my phone from the last time she called me and when I listen to it, it makes me smile just hearing her voice. I feel very blessed to have had Ann in my life as my dear friend and co-worker, and will never forget her.
