On October 28, 2012 (Bryan) Ted Bigart went to be in the Loving arms of the Lord Jesus. He courageously battled cancer (Leiomyosarcoma). He fought a short battle but a hard one, he was diagnosed on June 15, 2012 with the sarcoma in the back of his left upper thigh; it was already in the lungs. So Ted was determined to do whatever he could to be with his family as long as he could. He was so loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. His smile and love for others’ lives in all of us that knew him.
Ted was born October 13, 1959 in Missoula, Montana to (Late) John Norman Bigart and Jeane Bigart of Missoula. After graduating from Missoula Hellgate High School in 1977, he briefly attended University of Montana with plans to major in accounting and go to Law school. At that time he was not ready for college, and dropped out. He then attended for 3 years at the Living Faith Bible College in Caroline, Alberta Canada, which he was so blessed by; he loved going on the singing music tours with the school. Ted then was told about respiratory therapy would be a good field, so thought well that might be good to see if I want to be a Doctor. So he graduated from Missoula Vocational Tech in respiratory therapy. He worked as a respiratory therapist in 1986 in the Billings at Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he met his wife Susan McCranie, an RN. Their first date was a racket ball game, which he did not let Susan win. And then Susan took Ted antelope and elk hunting. They did a mission trip to Germany and Ted asked her hand in marriage the spring of 1987. They were married on September 3, 1988.
Ted returned to college and realized he did not want to become a Doctor, he said he just got into Respitory to meet Susan. He graduated from Eastern Montana College (currently known as MSU-Billings) in 1992 with an Accounting Degree. He later received his CPA. In 1992, Ted and his family moved to Helena with their first newborn son, Kyle. He worked various positions for the State of Montana. Their second son was born in 1997, Calvin. Ted worked as a Controller at Cooney Convalescent Home. Ted had been involved in Helena Kiwanis and enjoyed being a part of the group. Then they had their third son, in 2001, Adel. In 2002, the family moved to Spokane, with hope to go to Gonzaga for law school and get his MBA. Ted worked as Controller at Inland Northwest Health Services and Lutheran Community Services. The plans for returning to school did not work out so, Ted and his family returned back to their home in Montana City in 2010.
Ted was a gracious, loving father and husband. Ted loved to read his bible and sing to the Lord. The boys as babies would love to hear Dad sing to them. Susan would have Ted sing to them at bedtime. He always made time for his wife and three sons. In the hot days of summer it was time for a good water fight. The better and bigger water gun was always a must, just before all the buckets were on Dad. The boys and Ted would always love to play board games and could spend hours on the computer playing strategic games against each other. Ted was sure that the computer did not play by the same rules, when he would try to beat the computer. Ted loved to ski and spend time with his three boys and wife. Time at the lake with his family was always a must in the summer.
Ted leaves behind his loving wife Susan and their three precious sons, Kyle, Calvin and Adel. Ted is going to be missed greatly in their lives, but we know he is with Jesus and someday we will all be together rejoicing with him in Jesus’ arms.
He leaves behind 4 brothers Robert (Bob) Bigart, John (Jacque) Bigart, Dave (Renee) Bigart of Missoula and Keith (Sandy) Bigart of Bozeman, and many nieces and nephews.
