In Memory Of

Betty D. Randall, age 91, of Helena

December 26, 1933 – May 30, 2025

The live broadcast for the service will open 15 minutes to 11:00 a.m.
Betty passed away peacefully the evening of May 30th, 2025. She was born to Eva and Brownie Hennen in Sidney MT December 26th, 1933. She was the youngest of 6 children and grew up working on a farm\ranch.

She attended high school and graduated from Syndey Senior High in 1951.  After high school she worked as a waitress and served on the Girls State delegation and was a Woman of the Moose Lodge.

While her career furthered to the telephone company as a switchboard operator, she met Wayne Randall, and they married March 18th, 1960. They started their family in Miles City, moved to Billings for a short period and resided in Helena the remainder of her life. Her career after the kids were grown included working at Mountain West Bank and the State Department of Revenue

She loved being a homemaker and mother. She always had a cake on the cupboard and would always be busy preparing the evenings dinner. She would spend to the nickel on us kids at Christmas and birthdays. Come Fridays, mom would have the house cleaned and laundry done early in the day, so she could get the camper loaded (food, clothes and supplies), so when dad came home from work, he would only have to hitch the trailer, and it was off to Lakeside.

She was a devoted member of New Life Lutheran Church for almost 40 years. She took her duties with the church very diligently. She enjoyed working with St John’s Lutheran Church making quilts for the troops.  She had many dear friends in which she went on special road trips. When in Branson they had dinner at a popular restaurant that the tables slowly and gradually raised during the meal, with the group not knowing this until the table was practically right under her chin (her being the shortest of course) she never blinked an eye she just kept enjoying her meatloaf. On the same trip she also drove the Duck Boat and pretended to play the guitar for a picture when they went to the Million Dollar Quartet tribute show. On a trip to Charleston South Carolina, to her dismay she could only get sweet tea served with her meals. Anyone that knows Betty, knows how much she loves her coffee, served hot and black.

She was involved with a wonderful group of women who worked out together and after would go to coffee at Super 1. She was part of many of dinner groups and had more friends than one can count. She was very funny and witty. Her “one liners” could bring the room to its knees.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Wayne Randall. Her siblings Clifford Hennen, Alvin Hennen, Gladys Paulsen, Anna Rose Martin, and Geneva Burlison.  She is also preceded in death by her mother, Eva Hennen and father, Brownie Hennen and many dear friends.

She is survived by her children; Bill (Pam) Randall of Billings MT, Suzie (Dave) Shute of Helena MT, Cindy Backeberg of Helena MT, Richard (Kris) Nelson of Kansas City KS, Grandchildren Danny (Shelsey) Shute of Helena MT, Abbigail Belcher of Austin TX, Luke Olaf of Columbia Falls MT, Nicole Backeberg of Billings MT, Great grandchildren Carson and Rayleigh Shute of Helena MT.

Special thanks to her many loyal and loving friend for all the cards and spending time with mom, generously bringing gifts and treats especially during her last few months. Also, thank you to all the staff at Beehive Homes of Helena.

Betty has requested in lieu of flowers; donations be made to the charity of your choice.

    Susie, Cindy, Billy and families,
Jay and I extend our condolences in regards to the passing of your dear Mother. She always had some cute ditty sayings that made us laugh at coffee clutches with the neighbor ladies. Your Father was a kick too, on board game nights! All too soon, we find ourselves on a different course in life, that makes us remember those great moments and want them back again. It was great getting to know you two gals too, Susie and Cindy. Sadly, we never met Billy. We wish all of you well, with better days ahead, in remembering that your folks were thought well of in the Tree Streets of Helena! They were great people to know! Sincerely, Jay and Sylvia Banschbach, Birch Street Neighbors to Maple Street Folks

Betty was the light of our church, New Life Lutheran. She had a great wit and would get us all going. I miss her in her seat on Sunday mornings. Someone said she was the Matriarch. She certainly was. She lived a full life and will be missed.

Jim and I are so sad to hear of Betty’s passing. We enjoyed Betty and Wayne so much and appreciated our time with them at New Life Lutheran Church as we worked together to further the mission of the church. We recall many conversations with them at potlucks, meetings, bible studies and couple’s social events during the years. Both of them were cards! The jokes and one liners were expected and memorable. I will always remember your mom’s laughter as we all enjoyed those times. May God’s peace fill your hearts as you know that your mom is now reunited with. your dad. and they are happy together again. Sending you much love and prayers at this time.
