Betty Jean Beniger (Wiseman) was born January 24, 1927, in Maywood, Missouri, to Olen (Swede) Wiseman and Irene (Howard) Wiseman. Betty died January 17th . Betty was the oldest of four children. When she was still an infant, the Wisemans moved to White Sulphur Springs, Montana. Soon after, the family moved to Baker where Betty spent most of her growing-up years. High school graduation came as WWII was coming to an end in 1945. Betty trained to be a nurse to help with the war efforts, but the war ended soon after her training began.
From Betty’s marriage to Bud Storrs in 1946 they welcomed four children into the world. From her subsequent marriage to Erwin Fuller in 1953, they welcomed her youngest child in 1954. In 1957, Betty moved to Helena when Erwin was offered a position as service manager at Anderson Motors, which used to be on Fuller Avenue. She took a position at Mountain Bell Phone Company at this time and worked there until retirement in 1984. She married Frank Beniger in 1964.
In 1977, Betty’s life dramatically changed when she became a follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was very active in the East Helena community and with the Veterans of Foreign Wars during retirement. She also enjoyed traveling and reading a wide variety of book genres.
Betty has joined her daughter, Helen, in heaven, and is survived by her other children, Dianna Fox (husband, Perry), Roger Storrs (wife, Carol), Ed Beniger (wife, Leslie), Helen’s husband, Bill Miller, and Ray Fuller (wife, Christy). She was also very loved by her 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren with another expected in March. Betty’s family remembers her with love and affection and will never forget the unique gifts she was always able to find, her love for silly hats, her collection of frogs, and her enjoyment of time with loved ones.
The funeral to honor Betty will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 22nd at Retz Funeral Home, 315 E. 6th ave., Helena. In lieu of flowers, Betty has requested donations be sent to Big Sky Fellowship in Helena, P.O. Box 9786, Helena, MT 59604, to continue to care for her sponsored child, Prince, who lives in India. Dear Ray and family,
We were sorry to learn of the loss of your mother. It had been years since I had seen or visited with her but I have thought of her often. One verynice lady.
May you find comfort in knowing many care and are praying for you. May you find joy in the days ahead as you are flooded with memories. Most of all may you find peace in the knowledge that you will be together again.
Lord Bless!
Go in Faith! Terri

I’ll always remember Betty as the beautiful lady in the picture above. She bought me my first drink when I turned 21! She was my boss at Ma Bell at the time, and I had no family in town. I guess she felt sorry for me and took me out for drinks and dinner. Her daughter and my very good friend, Dianna, has the same good and strong character as her Mom. It’s my privilege to know them both. My sincere condolences to Betty’s family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Ray, Christy and all Betty’s family. Betty was an adopted daughter of East Helena and was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Heaven is a brighter place now and we are all better for having shared her beautiful life and smile.
God Bless you all,
Glen

Betty was such a nice person. She was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way that she could. She was a good friend of my mother-in-law, Nora Lanning. They are probably having a great time reminiscing right now. My sincere condolences to her family.
