Betty M. Tannehill Gress was born May 29, 1932 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot, ND to Claude R. and Josie A. Tannehill.
Betty passed away on the evening of March 19, 2014 in Helena, MT, at the age of 81. When she was 2 years old, the family moved to the Dearborn area near Augusta, MT. Growing up on ranches, Betty became an accomplished horse rider, and by her mid-teens was a well-known barrel racer winning many ribbons and prizes.
Later she married Tom Davis and together they had 5 children: Cindy, Debbie, Clint, Tommy, and Wade Davis.
Betty is preceded in death by both parents, Claude R. and Josie A. Tannehill; her sons, Clint, Tommy, and Wade and Wade’s wife, Jana and their son, Casey. She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Davis, and Debbie (Mike) Anzik of Helena; sisters, Bonnie (Harry) Vincent of Helena, Claudia (Jim) Buxton of Everett, WA, Kathy (Duane) Saville of Buckeye, AZ, and Terry (Dan) Fisher of Butte, MT; aunts, Joyce Knapstad of Great Falls, MT and Elsie Swendseid of Butte, MT; as well as numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A very special thank you for the love and support of her niece, Natalie Tannehill, who took care of her and went out of the way to make her comfortable in her time of need, you are a guardian angel.
Betty was an avid member of the Helena Church of the Nazarene. A Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Helena Nazarene Church, 117 Valley Dr., with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Forestvale Cemetery after the service. A reception will be held at the church following the burial. I am so sad to hear of my cousin, Betty’s, passing. My mother, Esther Brandvold and Josie, were sisters. While I hadn’t seen her for a few years (back here in North Dakota), I remember her as being very friendly, just an extremely nice person to be around. It was always great visiting with Betty!! May our Lord God and Jesus Christ, his son, richly bless and protect all those she leaves behind.
