Beverly June Weaver McClarren, 89, died April 14, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Helena, Montana, where she had been living the last several years.
Beverly was born March 24, 1934 in State College, a daughter of the late Floyd and Rosella (Miller) Weaver. She graduated from State College Area High School and was proud of being a majorette.
On June 6, 1954 she married Harold (Skip) McClarren, who passed away in 2003. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Patricia) of Elizabethtown PA, Amy Gordon (Mike) of State College PA, Patricia Foster (Frank) of Helena MT and Kristen Krasinski (Brian) of Philipsburg PA; grandchildren, Kylene Troop (Bryan), Keiran McClarren, Cole McClarren (Mickey), Clayton Gordon, Skylar Gordon, Taylar Miller (Ben) and Kaden Foster; great grandson Henry Troop; sister Sandra Lyle and brother Barry Weaver (Gerry). Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were an infant baby girl; brothers Carl, Wayne, Philip, Sherman and Gary; and sister Sally Laird.
Beverly was happiest when she was around people. She loved being around her family, but if they were not handy, well, she was never amongst strangers for very long. She had many jobs over the years, starting at a country store in Woodycrest as a teenager. Then she had stints as a bank teller and then assistant to the managers at O.W. Houts and Sons until the most demanding job of all, motherhood, took over for a while. She later coded college applications in the evening for PSU, prepared mailings for Stewart Howe Alumni Association and especially enjoyed lugging paperwork between Jackson Hewitt Tax Service locations.
Beverly had many charitable endeavors. She was a lifelong member of the Woodycrest United Methodist Church, serving many roles, including organist and building fund treasurer for 58 years! She (often with Skip) enjoyed workcamp trips to many southern states. Most recently she delivered Tote Bags of Hope to cancer patients for the Cancer Survivors Association of Centre County.
She enjoyed travel, crafts, camping and really just anything where she could visit with people.
Visitation will be held from 6:00PM – 8:00PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 and 9:00AM – 10:00AM on Saturday, April 22, 2023 with a funeral service immediately following at 10:00AM at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike State College, PA 16801.
