Bonna Elford Pacheco passed away October 18, 2017 after a series of debilitating strokes at the age of 91. She was born January 2, 1926 in Spring Valley, Montana to Henry and Amelia (Lund) Randall. She was the youngest of 7 children and shared many happy memories with her farming family. It was a joyful childhood, tending cows and riding her horse, Dolly.
Bonna graduated from High School in Choteau and later married Samuel Elford in 1945; he preceded her in death in 1971 after 26 years of marriage. In 1973, Bonna married Tio Pacheco and they were helpmates to each other for 31 years until Tio passed away in 2004.
During her lifetime, Bonna was well known for her beautiful handwork—crocheting and embroidery, in addition to wonderful strawberry jam, rhubarb pie and homemade bread/cinnamon rolls…she lived a full, remarkable life and is survived by her children: Vivian and Ron Drake; Les and Donna Elford; Maureen and Rick Foster; as well as grand/great grandchildren: Sy, Leah and Bradon Trahan; Andrew and Peter Elford; Breanna and Ian Caldwell; Samantha and Chas Horinek; Joseph and Skylar Elford (all of Helena).
A memorial service celebrating Bonna’s life will be held at noon, on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Mountain Family Fellowship church, 6145 N. Montana Ave., Helena, MT 59602. A reception will follow at the church. Please see below to offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Bonna.
