In Memory Of

Bonnie Jean Lantz

August 2, 1938 – October 21, 2010

Bonnie Jean Lantz (McDonald), 72, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, in the company of her family.

Bonnie was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Bearcreek. She attended school in Bearcreek and Belfry, where she met Calvin (her best friend and husband of 54 years). After graduating high school, Bonnie worked in Billings a short time before marrying Calvin Lantz on Sept. 29, 1956.

Bonnie traveled throughout the states of Wyoming and Montana with her husband as they followed the pipelines and oil rigs, while their family grew. In 1971, Bonnie and her family moved to Deer Lodge, where she and Calvin lived for 28 years, raising their four children. Upon Calvin’s retirement, they moved to Helena to be closer to family.

Some of Bonnie’s interests were bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, playing games, camping, golfing and snowmobiling. What Bonnie enjoyed most was spending time with her family, who will miss her laughter, love, sense of humor and of course, her chocolate chip cookies.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Calvin; son, Tommy (Maureen) Lantz of San Jose, Calif.; daughter, Julie (Dave) Burch of Helena; son, Mike Lantz of Kalispell; sister, Shirley Pfeifer of Bearcreek; brother, Sandy McDonald of Billings; grandchildren, Jeremy, Adam, Mallory, Zane, Seth, Alex, Shaelyn and Blake; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Adara, Trinity and Alayna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kenny Lantz; her parents, Alexander and Margaret; twin infant brothers; brother, Tommy McDonald; sisters, Christine Johnson and Connie Bonowitz.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Retz Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Retz Funeral Home. A reception for family and friends will be held in the Brondel Center in the lower level of the Cathedral of St. Helena immediately following the funeral service.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of St. Peter’s, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601. To offer condolences to the family or to share a memory of Bonnie, please visit www.retzfuneralhome.com.
