Brian Michael McCord
Brian, 51, died February 22, 2023, at his home in Clancy, Mont.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 3, at the Kleffner, 305 Hwy 518, East Helena, Montana 59635. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the Celebration service at 4 p.m. with the Presentation of the Flag to begin at 4:00 PM.
Brian McCord was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on December 9, 1971. He was the son of Norm and Linda McCord of Pipestone, Minn.
In 1989, Brian enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard where he worked as a combat medic. He was honorably discharged after six years of service. While still enlisted in the Army Guard, Brian attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. In 1994, Brian graduated from the University of South Dakota outreach program in Pierre, S.D., with a degree in nursing.
Brian married Denise Baustian on December 9, 2006, in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by Elvis. Brian and Denise were always on the go. You could often find them working on house projects together. They enjoyed fishing, gambling, hanging with friends at The Grill, mountain/road biking, hiking, off-roading in their Jeep, target shooting, and watching football (Go Steelers, NOT Tom Brady!). Brian loved his Metallica music, enjoyed concerts, and his vacation trips with friends. You could also find him wrenching on one of his many vehicles and boats. He loved taking his dog, Zombie, with him as much as he could.
He was a flight nurse in Rapid City, S.D. for years. In 2008, he and Denise moved to Clancy, Mont. He then got a job as an ICU nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital. Later, he worked as a nurse at Same Day Services. He was very loved and respected by his co-workers and patients.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Denise McCord; three children, Thomas (Amber) Corey, Katie (Josh) Foster, Mallori (Steve) Schultz; 8 grandchildren; his father, Norm McCord; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda McCord.
Brian will especially be remembered for his fiery spirit, sharp wit, and a strong belief in his opinions. Many would consider him the one you could count on to complete any task.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Brian touched are invited to bring photos and stories of Brian to share. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made in Brian’s honor to K9s for Warriors – https://donate.k9sforwarriors.org or to The Battle Within – In memory of Brian M. Brian, you were always a great Murse to have on, it made the shift smooth, and fun to work with.

I am so sorry to hear of your family’s loss. I will never forget the first interaction I had with Brain. It may have been during his first week at St Peter’s. While he was caring for my 18 year old son, he had called a code blue. His professionalism and caring manner was amazing. Due to his quick response, and the care of many others, my son survived with little obvious evidence of the experiences he went through that year. I will never forget his kindness and professionalism. We were blessed to have him on our health care team.

Denise and Family,
I can’t imagine the pain you are going through right now. I am choosing to think of all the lives Brian touched, changed and saved throughout his life. He has made a positive impact on so many. I know I haven’t seen you in years but I always loved the Steeler posts and smiles you two shared. Praying for healing and peace in this time of sorrow. I am here if you need anything.
