Burns Ronald Ashabraner passed Monday December 29, 2014. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was born to Corine Bratten Ashabraner and Burns Henery Ashabraner in Ashville, Tennessee on April 17, 1935. Ron and his wife of 53 years, Joan, have been residents of Montana for 42 years. Also survived by his son, Robert, and grandsons Jacob and Robert.
Ron had a long career with State Farm Insurance Co working in claims management and governmental affairs. During his tenure he moved from California, to Seattle Washington, to Butte Montana and finally to Helena Montana. While in Helena Ron especially enjoyed his work with governmental affairs.
Ron contributed to the community in many ways, especially sick or hurt children. He served children in need through his work for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals and served as Shrine Chaplin for many years. Ron is a Past Master of the Butte Masonic Lodge 22. He was also active in the Helena Kiwanis helping the community and children in need. While a resident of Butte, he served honorably as Police Commissioner. Ron also served on the board of directors of the Montana State Chamber of Commerce, supporting Montana businesses.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. Burial will follow the funeral service at Forestvale Cemetery with a reception following in the social center at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Ronald’s name may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 911 W. Fifth Ave., Spokane, WA 99204 or to the donor’s choice.
