Sounds like he had a wonderful life. We should all be so lucky. He was a very hard working man and raised a beautiful loving daughter, Pam, who I am very blessed to call her my friend.

I didn’t get to spend much time with my Uncle Dick, but all my memories of him are good ones and I look forward to being with him in Heaven someday! I particularly cherish the memory of his kindness to me after my Dad, Charles Sternhagen, was buried in Glasgow in a very stormy December of 1988. My Mom and I stayed with him and Aunt Karen for a few days, and I remember he gave me a big bear hug as we left the cemetery, and that hug really helped me. Uncle Dick and Aunt Karen were so warm and welcoming, they cooked delicious venison for us and we played cards and I loved hearing his jokes and stories about his life in Montana and in the Navy. Every time I saw him he had a smile in his eyes, even though he might have been concerned about the politics or the well being of someone in the family. I know he loved Aunt Karen with all his heart and he was always so good to his sister, my Mom, Marlene. I hope my sons grow up to be like my beloved Uncle.
