Carol Ann Crowley died unexpectedly on June 3rd 2017. She was born on July 14th, 1934 in Helena, Montana to James P. and Mary Ellen Klein. Carol attended Helena schools graduating from Helena High School and the Sisters of Charity School of Nursing. She spent most of her life in Helena and enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse at Saint Peter’s Hospital and Fort Harrison Veterans’ Hospital. Friends and acquaintances will remember Carol as a leader in the nursing community.
Carol married Leo Stanley Crowley and they had three children before divorcing: Steven Crowley, Karen Midtlyng (Norman), and Barbara Batts. She had four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Ellen Smith. In addition to her immediate family, Carol is survived by her brother-in-law; Eugene Smith and her dear friends; Mary Simmons and Dawn and Scott Barnes. Carol always had dogs in her life and she loved and was dedicated to all of them. Jessie and Bella survive her.
Carol was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. She enjoyed aerobics, reading, volunteer work and travel with friends and grandchildren. She volunteered at the Lewis and Clark Library, the State Library for the Blind, provided transportation for the blind, the Humane Society, Food Share, the Myrna Loy, Central School, the Feed and Fun Program, and the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Program. She was a hostess at the Montana Capitol Building, taught English at Front Street Learning and helped in fundraising activities for Carroll College.
Mom will be greatly missed. We will remember her determination to live her life as she wanted, her love of her family, her fried chicken and Texas chocolate cake. A memorial will be held at a later date. Please see below to offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of Carol.

So sorry to learn of the passing of Carol. I grew up across the street from her family on Logan St and I babysat her kids. Karen, Steve and Barb I do have fond memories of babysitting you. I’ll keep you in my prayers. Take good care of each other.

So sorry to learn of Carol’s death. She was a member of our exercise class at Crossroads, plus she was a volunteer driver for blind and visually impaired persons attending chapter meetings and the Summer School for the Blind. She was a cheerful and warm friend and we have missed her in recent years.
