In Memory Of

Carol A. Heiney, age 77, of Clancy formerly of De Witt, Iowa

August 1, 1936 – September 23, 2013

Carol Aulda Paarmann King Heiney passed away September 23, 2013 at Elkhorn Rehab and Healthcare in Clancy, Montana.  Carol just wore out due to complications of diabetes.

Carol was born on August 1, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa to Aulda Block Paarmann and Malvern Ardie Paarmann. Carol grew up on the family farm near De Witt with her three older brothers.  Carol was raised to know the importance of farming and family.

Carol married Norman F. King in May 1957 at GraceLutheranChurch in De Witt, Iowa.  Carol and Norman settled in Davenport where they were blessed with two children, Denise and Brian.  Carol and Norman had a vibrant social life: they loved dancing and entertaining.  They participated in the Holy Cross Lutheran Congregation in Davenport and the Jaycees and Jaycettes.  Norman passed away following a tragic car accident in 1965.

In August 1967, Carol married Vernon Ralph Heiney and the family moved to Rogers, Arkansas.  This union was blessed with one child, Susan.  Ralph and Carol owned and operated the Jan-Lin restaurant and drive in.  Carol was also a chef at Lost Bridge Resort in Garfield and retired from Emerson Electric in Rogers.  Carol and Ralph loved gardening and had a large vegetable garden in their back yard.

In April 2003 Carol moved to Montana to start a new adventure.  She lived at Rosetta Assisted Living in Helena and then Elkhorn Healthcare in Clancy.  Carol was a woman of many stories, including sharing Sam Walton’s tipping style, and how Paul Harvey had a segment on his program about the Christmas star in her front yard in Rogers.  Carol loved Bingo and crafts. On Fridays she looked forward to trips to thrift stores, she called this “goodwillin”.  On her birthday, Carol would gather with friends at a local pizza parlor and have pizza and a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

Carol was preceded in death by Norman King and Ralph Heiney; her parents; and brother Kenneth of De Witt.  She is survived by two brothers Glenn and Wayne Paarmann of De Witt; brother in law Ralph King of Lowden, Iowa; sister in law Charlene Paarmann, De Witt; sister in law Virgie Roth Blackwell, Missouri; brother in law Glenn Heiney of Fort Worth, Texas; children, Denise King (L. M. Minich) Jefferson City, Montana, Brian King (Mary) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Susan Heiney Edwards (Brad) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and step daughter Mary Jo Herman, Hawkinsville, Georgia; and grand children Parker King, Chicago, Illinois, Lindsey King, Colorado Springs, and Darianna Edwards of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Special thanks for the kindnesses shown by the staff at Rosetta Assisted Living in Helena and Elkhorn Rehab and Healthcare in Clancy as well as Hospice of St. Pete’s and Dr. Jessica Bailey.

Carol was very special. I am saddened to hear about her death. I will never forget Carol. My time at Elkhorn was special in many ways but especially when I shared times with those special people like Carol. Her love of family impressed me. Her laugh was contagious. I will remember the stories she told me while I polished her fingernails. We had fun. She was quite a lady. Today she is at rest and is shining among the stars.

I worked at Rosetta Assisted living when Carol lived there I enjoyed working with Carol. She was a funny lady that liked to tell her life stories. She will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful woman she made every one laugh at some of the things she said. She was always happy no matter what was going on and what she was thinking about she was always cheer full and Happy.

I met Carol when i was in the 4th grade taking tennis lessons with her daughter Susan. From that point on she became like a second mom to me and I always enjoyed my time with her. I am still in contact with Susan and still enjoy our friendship. I always enjoyed the CHRISTmas decorations and all the times Baby JESUS was stolen. She always had advise to give, stories to tell and an ear to listen. My children were blessed with getting to meet her when they were younger. Her and Susan spent a Thanksgiving with my family about 12 years ago and I will always Cherish that time and all the times GOD blessed her here with us. I am now 44 years old, married for 24 years, 3 wonderful boys ages 25, 23 and almost 17. My husband is a preacher and I praise the LORD for where I am and for all the advise she gave me when I was younger that kept me on the right path. I will always love her in my thoughts and heart. I will be praying for all her family and friends during this time.

Dear Denise, Brian, and other Family members, I wish to extend my sincere sympathy on your dear Mother’s passing. I met Carol and Norm thru the Davenport Jaycees. Two fine people with two lovely children, Denise and Brian. Unfortunately after Norm’s death, our lives took us to different places so contact was lost but still in our hearts. My husband Bob was with Norm in his accident , Bob did die in June 1977. Such wonderful memories of working, having fun functions to participate in with the Jaycee group. Know that the Good Lord will continue to look over all of us and give you the strength to carry on His good works, just as your Mother did. God Bless and Keep you. Sincerely Bette Dodds
