Carol Lynn (Bunny) Aumell passed away quietly on January 14, 2024 at 82 years old. Bunny was born to Michael and Carolyne (Propp) McGrath on March 5, 1941, just ahead of her twin brother Charles (Bud).
Bunny met and married Francis Polutnik in Butte in 1958. Together they had 4 children, Ellen, Carl, Karleen, and Steven. Bunny and Fran divorced amicably in 1982, enjoying many gatherings with their children and grandchildren.
Moving from Butte to Missoula and then to Helena with Francis, Bunny started working at the
Broadwater Market. She then started working at K-Mart and eventually Montana Blue Cross and Blue Shield as an insurance underwriter, working a short period of time with her daughter Karleen. She was working with Dr. Kechley when she retired.
Bunny was married a short time to Frank Nopper.
Bunny then met Charles (Charlie) Aumell and they were married in 1996. Charlie and Bunny were later divorced.
Bunny had an internal light that helped her make friends easily. She had a quick wit and was always ready for a party or road trip. She enjoyed watching football and boxing along with baking/cooking shows.
Bunny loved her family with all her heart and was always eager to share family recipes with anyone who asked. She loved cooking and baking with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bunny was a member of the Red Hats Society and enjoyed sharing her birthday month with her friend Judy, preparing the club luncheon.
Bunny was an active member of St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in East Helena and then Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. She was honored to offer Eucharist to the homebound. She loved entertaining the clergy and preparing them meals and treats.
Bunny is preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, her son Carl, husbands Fran, Frank, and Charlie, her sister Donna and brother-in-law Mick Kennedy, her twin brother Bud.
Bunny is survived by her younger brother and sister-in-law Mike and Christy McGrath, daughters and son in laws Ellen (Bart) Thompson, Karleen (Robert) Hanson, son Steven (Elizabeth) Polutnik; Granddaughters Sara Thompson (Matt Carlson), Samantha (Lariah) Thompson, Jackie (Mikol) Felber, Kate (Alex) Jardon, and Hannah Polutnik. Grandsons Christopher Hanson and Cullen Anderson. Great grandchildren Robert, Owen, and Lyla Felber, Zach, Niki, and Luke Jardon. Many loved nieces and nephews, and very good friend Marlys Weatherwax.
A church service will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 1502 Shirley Rd, Helena, Montana on Thursday February 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Father Bart Tolleson officiating. A reception will follow. Live streaming will be available from the Our Lady of the Valley. Please contact Karleen if you need directions for the stream.

I worked with Bunny at MPS/BCBSMT. She was the best, a hard worker, lots of fun and a surrogate mom to anyone who needed one. She will be missed.💔
