Carol Helen Focher, age 80, of Helena, passed away February 10, 2021 from a battle with cancer since October 2019.
Carol was born December 31, 1940 in Virginia, MN to Nilo and Tyne (Hietala) Palmi. She was raised in Minnesota with her brothers Ron and Roger Palmi. After she graduated high school, Carol went to nursing school in Minnesota and obtained her LPN license.
Carol married Curtis Griffis in 1959 and moved to Montana where they raised their four children. The family loved to spend time outdoors camping and hiking. Later she married Norm Focher in 1981. They enjoyed many years together camping, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing and spending time with family. Norm passed away in 2018.
Carol was famous for her delicious cooking, which she loved to do. She also liked to quilt and be outdoors as much as possible.
During her working career, Carol worked at the Hospital in Dillion, MT and later in La Grande, OR. She was also a business owner operating the Wisdom Market in Wisdom, MT for many years.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Nilo and Tyne Palmi; her husband, Norm Focher; and a grandson, Brett Jewett. She is survived by her children, Gayle (Rob) Smith, Sherry Griffis, Kurt (Marie) Griffis, Kerri (Steve) Blanton, and Shannon Jewett; grandchildren, Tony Boka, Chris Boka, Brent Cadwell, Cody Blanton, Jace Blanton, and Madison Jewett; and her brothers, Ron Palmi and Roger Palmi. Carol is also survived by her beloved dog, Christmas Joy (CJ).
