Carol J. Mundt 89, of Helena passed away in the early hours of Friday, December 23, 2011
Carol was born January 7, 1922 at Melstone, Montana the oldest of two children of William Henry Dunne and Queenie (Saby) Dunne. She graduated from high school at Melstone in 1939, spent all 12 years of her schooling there. Carol attended Beauty School in Billings from 1939-1940. She and Lynn Nordman Johnson were married in Billings September 1940. He was the father of 2 of her children, William Elgin Mundt and Jerry Lee Mundt. They later divorced.
Carol moved to Helena in 1942 where she married William A. Mundt, III on July 4, 1943. She and Bill had 2 children Colleen and Mike and a step-son, Richard from Bill’s first marriage.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Bill in1984. Carol worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Company for a year before going to work at the State for the Unemployment Compensation Commission, the Governor’s Office during Gov. Arenson’s term and for 21 years at the Supreme Court, where she retired.
Carol was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteer work there and at St. Peter’s Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and knitting, belonging to two sewing clubs and two pinocle clubs.
Carol is survived by her five children, William Elgin (Pat) Mundt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jerry Lee Mundt of Spokane, WA, Step-son, Richard of Helena, Colleen Jean Winston of Helena and Mike (Tina) Mundt of Helena; eight grandchildren, Gene Mundt, Jim Mundt, Veronica West, Mikal Winston, Kim Timm, Kellie Mundt, Keith Mundt and Christopher Mundt. Carol was also survived by her eight great grandchildren, Elizabeth Carol, Evelyn, Bailey, Lyric, Sam, LaShonda Turner, Alexandria and Hayden; two great great grandchildren, Titus and Darlus and brother, Dennis W. Dunne.
Visitation will be from noon to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the social center of the church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. I’ve known Carol since 2000 when I started rehab at St. Petes. Best dressed and sweetest woman I know. I know about 50 people and nurses that are missing her. So sorry to hear she past away.
