Carol Lynn (Hildenstab) Ehlke was born to James and Lenore (Spence) Hildenstab in Helena on May 8, 1959. She joined siblings Joe, Jimmy, Arlene, Nori and Jeannie. She passed away on March 7, 2012 at the age of 52.
Carol enjoyed exploring the outdoors, cutting Christmas trees, digging for sapphires and gold with Mark, and hanging at brother Jimmy’s garage. She was a member of the American Mineral Association. She looked forward to her daily ‘drive-by” to visit family. Carol fiercely loved her parents and siblings and had very strong ties to her nieces and nephews. Family pictures and mementos were proudly displayed in her home and she always had her camera with her. She was an excellent homemaker, hard worker and a natural born artist and floral arranger; she made beautiful wall hangings and table decorations using a bandana, barbed wire, wild flowers and family treasures. Carol was very loving and had a tender heart; she loved the simple things and gave the best hugs – she’d squeeze the stuffins out of you. Good country music, the American Flag and her family were what she was about. Carol was truly a red-neck girl.
Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents; her brother, Jerry Joe (Stretch); dad, Jim (Sunny); and half-sister, Linda Wimmer (Richard) of Arizona.
Survivors include husband, Mark Susag; mom, Lenore Hildenstab of Helena; brother and sister-in law, Jimmy and Laura Jo Hildenstab of East Helena and their daughters, Amy and Becky; sister, Arlene Bender of Helena and her children, Dustin and Robert Delaney and James and Andrea Bender; sisters, Nori Hildenstab of Bozeman and Jeannie Seaman and her husband Kellan of Fairfield and Jeannie’s children, Tina Gehring and Nic Whittle; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at noon Thursday, March 15th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue. A reception will follow in the social center of the funeral home.
