Carol “Rozanne” (Davenport) Koterba passed away peacefully from cancer on Tuesday, February 10, 2015.
Rosie was born in Anaconda, MT on December 31, 1946 to Floyd and Gladys Davenport. The family moved to Helena in 1954, where she spent her childhood and graduated from Helena Senior High School. After graduation, Rozanne married Clifford Hennessey of Helena with whom she had her daughter Shelley Lee.
In 1971 she married Donald Koterba and became step mother to Sharon, Dan, Kim and Rick. Don and Rozanne celebrated 39 years of marriage before his death in 2009.
Rozanne worked at Columbia Paint prior to moving to Outlook, MT in 1973. She and Doney farmed there until 1988 – making many life-long friends. Upon her return to Helena, she started her career at Helena Paint and Wallpaper. Rozanne was known for her uncanny ability to match paint colors and select wall paper. Her artistic eye allowed her to assist anyone who walked through the door and will be missed by the many customers she helped over the years. She continued to work at the paint store until her death.
Owner Don Connole and Rozanne became great companions over the past several years. They spent many hours watching sports, taking long drives and cooking together; he was an incredible support to her during her illness, always making sure that she was comfortable and happy.
She is survived by her mother, Gladys Davenport: her daughter Shelley (Barry) Lewis; sisters Vickie (Roy) Miller; and Sharon (Randy) Smith. Her grandchildren, Paige, Madison, and Nick Lewis; nieces and nephews Cory Smith and Treavor (Briana and Kendall) Smith; Jason (Ann, Ryan and Brynn) Miller; and Katie (Kevin) Steiner.
Aunts and uncles, Shirley (Art) Hall and family; Ervin (Judi) Hedegaard, and Lois Holter and family. Gene Davenport and family; and brother-in-law Phil (Pam) Koterba and family.
Rozanne also had many close and wonderful friends that were so important to her.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Justin Thomas and his incredible staff, the caring nurses and CNA’s at St. Peters Hospital.

A friends since 4th grade….. you will be missed. God speed my friend….
Paul & Deann Horning says
It’s hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful woman. Growing up, she was one of the many “moms” we all shared. She always made sure we were well fed and warmly dressed before heading out to the many basketball games and other events in the brutal Outlook winters. We didn’t get away with much at the Koterba’s, but we did sharpen our skills during sleepovers there! Paul and I have treasured our friendship with Rozanne here in Helena and will miss stopping to visit. We will fondly remember and toast her every December 31st. She was one of the very best!
Bryan, Vina & Rainee Watson says
Rozanne was a cousin who was more like an aunt to me as a child. As I grew up she was a loving friend. Bryan had a sweet spot for her and loved spending his conversations with her talking “farming”. I loved that through all of my crazy escapades as a kid she supported me and loved me unconditionally. When she was diagnosed with cancer she was a pillar of strength….stoic, courageous, the type of person you always hope you will be if you are ever dealt this fate. To the end, Rozie put others before herself and never complained. She passed on her own time and went with dignity. Our entire family adored her! She is one of the strongest women I have ever known. I will miss her sweet smile and will love her always!!

Scott Wirtz says
Rozanne was such a great friend with a heart of gold. She taught me so much growing up that I could never thank her enough. I was sad when they moved away from Outlook but was lucky to have her close when I went to school in Helena. I am so happy I got to see her this fall after so many years away. You will hold a place in my heart Rozie.

Our prayers go out to the family, it is not easy to lose a loved one so young, way to early. Take comfort in knowing she is in a better place, in the hands of God.

Sorry Your mom has passed, I remember a lot of fun times in Outlook with her and Donny. Take care.
Valerie Johnson says
Your mom and dad were 2 of the most precious people in my life. They will live on in my heart forever. Your dad Doney bless his heart, always in the hot-tub when we visited so Dion would always join him and have a couple of beers. Your Mom and I would just chill at the kitchen table and have a couple beers and just talk and laugh. They were 2 of my favorite relatives. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. May God wrap you in His arms and comfort you through this. We’ll see you Saturday.
Diane Pedersen says
Gladys and family:
I was so sorry to learn that your daughter passed away. There is no greater heartbreak than the loss of a child, no matter what age they may be. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy, Diane Pedersen
Garry and Debbe Pistoria says
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family. What an incredible lady, she helped us with every gallon of paint and stain we needed for our new home when we moved here in March of 1999. She loved our two black labs and always came out to the truck to pet them and love on them. We saw her every Sunday morning at Bullwiinkles with her friends for a nice breakfast and she always came over and spoke to us.
RIP dear lady, you will be sorely missed and was very much loved.
