Carolyn Kay Tintinger, age 87, of Helena passed away Monday, August 14, 2023.
Carolyn was born to Walter and Miriam(Natrass) Braach in Brandon, Montana on February 15, 1936. Carolyn grew up on the family ranch near Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1954. As a young woman, she moved to Helena and worked for Mountain Bell. She met her future husband of 55 years, Donald Tintinger, in January of 1957. They were married on June 9, 1957 in Sheridan and resided in Boulder. The couple later moved to Helena where they were blessed with three children. The 1970’s brought a move to Butte and then on to Wyoming. In the 1980’s, Don’s career took them to several states across the country. Carolyn made a home and friends everywhere they lived. Always happy to help her neighbors whenever she could. The couple took advantage of the relocations by traveling extensively. One of Carolyn’s most cherished memories was her visit to Nantucket Island. Her ancestors where some of the first settlers on the island and it gave her great joy to visit the area.
Once Don retired in 1994, they returned to their beloved Montana. They enjoyed many years of traveling, socializing with their family and friends, spending time with their grandchildren, and finding treasures at garage sales. Carolyn particularly enjoyed researching the family tree and gathering information on her ancestors. On a visit to Minnesota, she was pleased to share some of her research with a local museum. Carolyn also enjoyed playing cards, baking, puzzles, picnics, and gardening.
Carolyn is survived by her children Charles (Phyllis) Tintinger, Dennis (Beverly)Tintinger, and Valerie (Mick) Schade; brother Lester (Carol) Braach; sisters-in-law Dee Tintinger, Bette Jane (Gordon) Hoven, June (John) Sine, and Janice Magee; grandchildren Melissa (Mike)Tack, Sam Schade, Cassie Schade, BreAnna Tintinger, Vunessa Salazar, Tammy Arias, Steven Baros, and Pamela Baros; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

I am so sorry to hear this. I had no idea. We had a nice visit a few weeks ago when I was walking by. I always enjoyed my visits with her.
Xena Schade Great Grand daughter says
I remember one time Me, Grandma, and Leah went to Target and Grandma said to pick out two things, whatever we wanted. I got a baby doll, a tiny one, and a crib for it. I still have the clothing for the baby. I miss her.
Erica M Leeper says
One of my favorite memories is when we went on a ferry through the Lewis and Clark expedition. It was so fun. I remember her being so happy to enjoy it with the family. Then we went through Helena downtown and got ice cream. Then we came home and watched Kathy Lee Griffith stand up. She was one of the sweetest family members I’ve ever had. She cared about everyone. I’ll never forget her laugh.
