Catherine “Cathy” Mae (Peterson) Hartsfield passed on from this Earth in the early morning hours of May 18, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 62 after a short fight with cancer. She was born on October 22, 1958 in St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, MT to Larry and Nettie (Poe) Peterson, and was the fourth of five children. Cathy was a creative and independent sprit who touched the lives of all she encountered.
Even though Cathy had started her life in Helena she had lived briefly in Three Forks, Shelby, and Miles City, MT during the 1960’s. In the early 1970’s, the family moved back to Helena, where she graduated from Capital High School in 1976. While in high school she was involved in Junior Achievement which helped make various items for local businesses in Helena. After graduation, she had worked for the City of Helena as dispatcher for both the cab company and the local bus system. During that time, she had met her future husband Charles Hartsfield and they were married On December 7, 1979. After they were married, they moved to Tallahassee, Florida to be closer to his family and medical care for their son. Cathy and Tom would go on to have 3 more children in Florida. After being in Tallahassee for a few years she worked as a CPA for a short period of time and then for UNISYS before getting a divorce in 2001. She had moved to Tulsa and after some time had gotten a job for DIRECTTV call center which later became AT&T until her death.
A child at heart, Cathy collected toys much of her adult life. Her interests ranged from Cabbage Patch Dolls to tech items, including robots, to Happy Meal toys, and lots of items in between. She was particularly fond of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and she loved her robots dearly. Cathy was the most kind and caring woman this world will ever know, empathizing will all manner of creatures and critters. Anytime she could help an animal, real or stuffed, she would. She also had a very active imagination and would empathize strongly with her toys. People who were honored to know her were so blessed as she brought light and laughter to everyone she met. So instead of sadness remember her loving laughter and loving kindness.
