Cecelia Miller, age 89, of Helena, passed away peacefully in her sleep July 28, 2011 at Cooney Convalescent Home where she had resided for the last seven and a half months. She was born in Mott, North Dakota to Frank and Tillie Schlosser on September 11, 1921.
She married Joseph Miller in Mott, North Dakota. They soon moved to Helena to begin their new life.
Cecelia devoted her life to being a wife, mother, and homemaker until the death of her husband, Joe, in 1978. Cecelia “Grandma Blue,” as she was known by many, will be remembered for her famous pies, delicious meals, and sweet treats. She loved gardening, shopping, dining out, and cats.
After Joe’s death, Cecelia began her career as a Foster Grandparent for the Rocky Mountain Development Council where she was employed for over thirty years. Grandma Blue was never too busy to give hugs, smiles, and help to every child she met.
Her parents, Frank and Tillie; husband, Joseph; sisters, Anna, Salveria, Meg, and Ida; and her brother, Albert, all precede her in death.
Cecelia is survived by her three children, Sharon Milot of Helena, Janet Greenfield of Helena, and Larry (Sharon) Miller of Chinook; six grandchildren, Shauna Wenger, Jennifer (Jay) Greenfield Kees, Eric (Misty) Greenfield, Chad Greenfield, Tanya (BJ) Navanty, and Tobi Maki. She also had eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Skillman and especially the staff at Cooney Convalescent Home for the compassion, attention, and love they gave to Cecelia while she was in their care.
No formal services will be held and cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private service at a later date. Memorials in Cecelia’s name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.aswfuneralhome.com.
A golden heart stopped beating,
You’re now at peaceful rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
God saw you were getting weary and did what He thought best.
He came and stood beside you and softly whispered, “come and rest.”
We know he takes the best – we will miss your sweet smile and gentle ways. Rest in peace.

I delivered Meals on Wheels to your loved one and I can say she was one of my favorites. What a wonderful lady and beautiful soul. I remember her up at Rocky, she was most loved. I know she is at peace and at rest now. May God keep her close and bless you all. A Fond Friend, Duzzie Stolp, that gal with the camoflage hat on!

Sharon and family–Well, I am supposed to be able to say something at times like this, but I never know what to write. Except to express my sympathy and feelings for you. It has been a long haul for you Sharon, and you have handled it well. I would dare say that your mother’s legacy would be that she and your father raised some very nice children, and in turn you have raised some very nice grandchildren for her to enjoy and admire. So, even though the last few years were tough on her and you, use the memories to remember the good parts and the blessings. Ron
