My heartfelt condolences to Betty and the family. Some of my fondest memories were of having dinner at the (old) Legal Tender Restaurant when Chuck and Betty were the owners. It seemed like everyone from the Clancy area had dinner at the Legal Tender…it was THE place to see and converse with neighbors while eating such great food.

Betty and Family,
I was so sorry to learn of Chuck’s passing. Please accept my condolences and know you are in my thoughts at this difficult time. I have memories of Chuck, his brother Larry and sister Carol growing up in Basin. We would ice skate (without skates) on the frozen creek in the winter. I remember the pies that Chuck’s dad (Earl) would bake and I can still smell and see them on the kitchen counter cooling. I remember when Chuck cooked at the Peter Pan Café in Helena and then when Chuck and Betty were the original owners of the Legal Tender in Clancy. Chuck was an excellent (self-taught) cook and knew just how to cook my halibut. He also tinkered with automobiles, did some auto mechanic work and liked his classics (Ford). Chuck had a nice smile and a quietness about him. RIP my friend.
