In Memory Of

Charles Jezick, age 72, of Helena

November 2, 1947 – December 7, 2019

Charles John Jezick lost his battle with bone cancer on December 7, 2019. He was born to Charles E and Janet E Jezick (nee Curry) on November 2, 1947 in Brownwood, TX. He moved to Montana when he was 7 and loved everything about it. When he moved to Portland in high school, he left his heart in Montana. He spent his entire career at OECO in Portland, heading up the quality lab where he calibrated parts for the aerospace industry. When he retired, he immediately moved aback to Helena. He rarely missed the Sunday service at St. Peters Episcopal Church. The day he died he attended the ordination of the new bishop. He had a passion for Montana history, history books and could be described as a walking encyclopedia on Montana. He also enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping. He volunteered on the Tour Train, the Walking Mansion Tour & the Old Governor’s Mansion. He attended the Annual Montana History Conference. He is survived by his sisters Donna Snyder of St. Louis and Judee (Sid) Woodbury of Palm Desert CA, 6 nieces and nephews, 11 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 2 great-grandnephews. Donations can be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Helena or to the Montana Historical Society.

A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 511 N. Park Ave. in Helena. Interment will follow the service at St. Peter’s Cathedral Memorial Garden. A reception will follow the interment in the church parish hall. Chuck was a dear friend of my brother Richard. They would spend many hours ar the bookstore discussing a range of topics and figuring out the mysteries of the world. A true gentleman from the old Hawthorn School neighborhood. Rest in Peace Chuck!

Yes he inspired me to learn electronics. I always enjoyed the few times we got to see each other. He was a big help to me when I needed a special instrument when I was in the Photo business. Will miss him.

It was so kind of Chuck to visit us last Summer on his trip to Portland. All of the Jezick family have been very special to us since we were neighbors in NW Portland. Our hearts will be with you on January 11th. Sorry we are not able to attend. Blessings to each of you.

Chuck was a wonderful man and a dedicated volunteer at the Montana Historical Society, spending most of his volunteer time assisting with tours at the Original Governor’s Mansion. Chuck’s passion for history was appreciated very much, and his knowledge was impressive. I am lucky to have worked with Chuck on many projects. I will miss seeing him at all the Historical Society events and conferences. I know he considered those of us at MHS family and it we felt the same. Our thoughts are with Chuck’s family during this difficult time.

Chuck was a great friend who was passionate about Helena history and the people who live here. With the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, he shared a display board of some of the components he worked on that went to the moon. Chick was a kind and generous friend and is greatly missed.
