Charles W. “Bill” Tovey. Bill went to his hunting ground on August 7, 2019. He was born in in Helena, MT on April 6, 1943 to Charles Tovey and Roberta (Waldvogel) Longmire. He was preceded in death by his mother; father; a brother, Eddy; and a granddaughter. Bill is survived by his siblings, Charlotte Allison, Kevin (Alice) Longmire and Timothy Longmire, all of Helena; his daughters, Kimberly Tovey of Kalispell, Misty Tovey of Wyoming, and a son, Charlie Tovey of Kalispell. He has three granddaughters, two grandsons, and two great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles “Bill” “Chuck” lived life to the fullest. His passions in life were semi-truck driving, rattle snakes, taking pictures, hunting and fishing. His brothers, Kevin and Timmy, took him to Yellowstone, Freezeout or the mountains as some friends did. Bill lived for hunting season, mark helping him put in his permits. He was a lifer to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the NRA, donating a gun for auction one year. He spent time with his sister and brother-in-law going hunting and just for a ride or his children spending times visiting him.
We would like to thank all of the caregivers at St. Peter’s surgical floor ICU, Rocky Mountain Care Rehab, Hospice of St. Peter’s, as well as all of the doctors involved in his care.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. A reception will follow the service in the social hall of the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow the reception at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. Chuck was a great neighbor. Always stopped to say hello. I would sneak over to his house in the winter and hope he wouldn’t catch me shoveling his steps and walkway in the winter. I appreciated him and his service. He will be missed.
