Clayton Orlando Paulson, 86, of Townsend, died on Friday January 14, 2011 at Broadwater Health Care Center in Townsend.
Clayton Orlando Paulson was born March 23, 1924 to Gilbert and Bentine (Bakken) Paulson in Albin Township, near New Ulm, Minnesota. He attended country school, and then Hanska Elementary and Hanska High School in Hanska, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church.
Clayton was a machinist and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union in Minneapolis, MN.
He married June Bonesteel on December 19, 1970 in Brookings, SD. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage. Together they traveled and camped throughout Minnesota and Montana.
When June and Clayton retired in 1984, they moved to Townsend, MT to be close to daughter Kathleen and family.
Clayton enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood working. He ran Tweet Deal Birdhouses out of his home on North Walnut Street in Townsned. His birdhouses have been enjoyed by many in the Townsend community. He attended church with his wife, June. He was a member of the Lions Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, June Paulson of Townsend, MT; step-children, Gary (Sandi) Bonesteel of Maricopa, AZ, Kathleen (John) Poppe of East Helena, and Douglas Bonesteel of Morrelton, AR; step-grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Mader of East Helena, Eric (Cheri) Copeland of Helena, Krista (Steve) Shwartz of Scottsdale, AZ and Kara (Mike) Larson of Tucson, AZ; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; brothers, Burton Paulson and Alvin “Duffy” Paulson; sister, Bernice Bisek and other relatives.
A family memorial will be held and Clayton’s cremated remains will be placed in Minnesota along with his parents and siblings. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.aswfuneralhome.com.

Gee i still miss visiting our “june bug” at BHC and clayton and frank “across the street” – frank has kept us “up” on clayton and we were sorry to hear of his fall last wk and his passing – we are glad he did not suffer a long time – we sure had alot of fun times with june with june and clayton when we were neighbots and think of them often – luv to you all – don and judy strang
