We rode bikes together and shared friends and good times. When I shipped out to Desert Storm Clyde helped me move my stuff into storage and made sure my send off was memorable. Clyde always respected and supported veterans. Whenever we met at the VA or else where I was always greeted with a smile and hug.
Chris Pegg says
Clyde was so much more than just a dear friend. He was more like a brother. He kept watch over me when I was a crazy teenager looking for trouble; my biker angel. He was a part of my larger family and we all loved him. I will miss him so much. I know he’s riding his Harley, free of pain, surrounded by friends and family, my mom among them. He made my world a much more interesting place and I never had a doubt he would give me the shirt off his back if I needed it.

Clyde was the most awnry sweet man I have met. Ironic putting those words together, but true none the less. I enjoyed his visits. Always told me stories of his past, updated me in his health, spoke of his family and assured me if I ever needed his help- he had my back, regardless of the request. I was very saddened to hear of his passing and his last words forever ringing in my head in his raspy voice “See ya next time kid”. Until then my friend…

Clyde was such a huge part of so many lives. In 1977, he was the best man at our wedding ( Dave Anderson) and even gave us his old set of wedding rings because we had NOTHING at the time. When I was a teenager, I remember him riding past our house on his Harley… then.. off my sister would go with him…. maxi coat flying in the wind… I think that is when I decided I loved bikes. .. !! He was just too cool for words.. always a big hug, always a good story .. and that laugh… always will remember that laugh… thank you Clyde for your love and friendship. .. you left a legacy.

i first met Clyde when we both lived in housing. i was his downstairs neighbor right after my son was born almost 22 years ago. One of my fondest memories include him to this day…. we put up a inflatable pool and everyone around us helped fill it with their hot water tank…and we had our own redneck hot tub…we sat in it all night and kept re-filling it to stay warm… just chatting away. We lived there til my son was just over 3 and he loved to play with Tim and would chase after him all the time. We would catch each other thru the years and he always had a smile on his face thru the pain which never went away but unless you knew him.. he would never say a word about. It saddens me to know of his passing, but i know he will be riding….. forever with no pain now.

Jeremiah Bullfrog aka David Anderson says
First off, Mick, I still hold no grudge for you turning me upside down at the Corner Pocket. The hospital ride was ‘not’ your fault. Ulcers just happen.
I moved to Helena in January of 1969 from just outside the DC are of Virginia. What a culture shock that was. I had to go over to Helena High by self to register for school, I was about to enter my sophomore year. I was shown around the school for a while then left to explore a bit on my own. To cut it short, I was chased home by these red necks who didn’t care for long hair. My first stop in Helena lasted all of 4 days. I ran away back to Virginia. Well needless to say it didn’t take too long to be caught. Back to Helena I came.
Back at Helena High I met up with a fellow named Dan Christinsen ( he spelled it a bit different. Back then there was a rumor going around that I was a NARC, because I was the new kid. Mostly folks avoided me like the plague. One day, Dan and I were out in the parking lot and we hear this loud noise getting closer and closer. Turns out it was Clyde on one of his scooters.
There was a small crowd gathered ’round ’em, and they were kinda nodding my way. Next thing I know, here comes Clyde walking straight for me. Yes. I’ll say that I was afraid. Man enough to admit it. He asked me my name and where I was from. We spoke for a spell. He mentioned my deep voice for such a small fellow.
I didn’t last long in Helena that time either and off I went back east. Well of course I got caught again and back to MT I came.
I ran into Clyde once again in the school parking lot. We talked some more. I didn’t know at the time, but when I was there the time before, he had informed the kids that I was no NARC. Things went a bit easier for then, even though I was in a group home up on 6th.
We kept running into each other and would spend more and more time together. As the friendship grew of course it seemed we were much more that just friends. It was a kindling of spirits if you will. Then it was like we were inseparable. Oh yes yes, my mom didn’t think too much of that. ( Most parents didn’t think too highly of ’em back then )
She thought she would have a talk with Clyde one day, alone! I was worried something bad was about happen. Exactly the opposite. Clyde told my mom that ‘along as David is with me, no harm will come near him’. NONE never did.
Fast forward to about ’71. The year ‘Jeremiah was a Bullfrog’ came out and Clyde nicknamed me that going forward. Every conversation started with Jeremiah.
There was a time when he had this old late ’30’s or early ’40’s car that had suicide doors on it that we drove it up the side of a big hill out in the valley as far as we could. Got that thing turned around, got out and watched it roll down hill till it landed on a big rock. Looked like a giant hood ornament. Then off to Idaho with Gary Clausen to make our fame and fortunes in the spud fields.
We didn’t have much money then so Gary shot some squirrels for us to eat and of course spuds. I got bit by something in the night 2 days later. Off to the hospital where Clyde called my mom and back to MT they went.
And yes he was my best man but no better man lived.
I will see you again, and we’ll have more adventures.
Much Love
Jeremiah D. Bullfrog
Tim McKeever says
Well, my good Brother, it was sad news indeed to hear that you left us and headed over the Great Divide. We had many a good time, and I have lots of fond memories. You were always true to those you kept in your circle of friends and I was proud to be one of them. I really enjoyed our visit when I got back to Helena to bury my dad. It was the highlight of my trip. You will be missed, but never forgotten. As I told you then. I love you Clyde. Always will. The world is a little bit dimmer without you. Thank you for the color you added to my life. My thoughts are with your family, may they find solace in your new freedom.

Clyde was a very good hearted person, always a great attitude and uplifting when you needed it! I knew him years ago, and we had a lot of fun together. Yes, I also remember the Corner Bar, playing pool and drinking shots. Like I said, a very long time ago! I haven’t seen Clyde for several years, but every time we would run into each other, it was just like the first! My thoughts go out to the Wiseman family! Clyde was a great guy and will be missed greatly.

Keith Gaffaney says
Clyde was one of my very few best friends. I met Clyde as a kid when my parents and him would get together back in the late 70’s early 80’s. They went to High School together and later my father served Clyde some chow at the Mt. State Prison in Deer Lodge. Clyde hooked me up with a friend of his that taught Kenpo Karate and he gave me free lessons when I was in Helena. When I graduated Clyde gave me $250. More than any relative had given me. Clyde was an Awesome man. I joined the Navy and became a Seal, served for six years and was honorably discharged. Being in SpecWarCom and serving in Africa in conflict gave me and Clyde another connection. While I was away I used to tell people that I wished my name was Clyde because I thought so highly of the man. What I didn’t know until just the past few years is that Clyde and I shared a name, his middle and my First name. Course he called me Keithy, from the time I was a boy. In the past five years I have become even closer with Clyde. VA appointments I would stay at his house. Even if I smelled like cigarettes for two weeks after! HaHa Clyde borrowed me some money last year and would sacrifice everything he had for the people he loved. I was very concerned that I couldn’t get ahold of the old fart. Thought maybe he patched up again and took off to Texas to help some friends after that big shooting. Anyway, I love you forever Mr. Wiseman, Wide Glide. A legend with a heart of gold.
Clyde’s Words
“Walk peacefully on heaven streets soldier. You’ve done your time in hell!
Till we meet again
Keithy

Donald Maynard says
Clyde was a great friend. He was my next door neighbor in the first house I lived in in Helena. He was my first friend outside of my family. That was 72 years ago. Through all the strange changes of the fifties, sixties and seventies he was always a friend and always had a big smile and a hug. A good man. Thanks, Clyde. We’ll meet up again soon.
