In Memory Of

Connie R. Teigen

January 24, 1932 – December 5, 2010

Connie Ray Teigen was born January 24, 1932 in Voltaire, ND to Hazel and Chester Kocher. She left us on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in Helena, MT.

On June 27, 1949, she married Lloyd Mason Teigen in Butte, Ward County, ND. Early years were spent in ND where Connie worked as a cook and Lloyd worked in construction. They were blessed to have four wonderful children to care for.

The family moved to Montana in 1960 where they settled in Harlem. Later they moved to Missoula and spent many years working and cultivating life-long friendships. Connie was a cook for Paul’s Pancake Parlor for several years and then moved on to Super Save where she completed her working career as a cook in the restaurant there.

Many weekends were spent with family and friends camping and fishing. She loved to get out in the boat and go fishing with family and spent many days preparing the fish that were caught. Hot chocolate and warm Blueberry Muffins were a camp staple. Always a cook, she delighted in feeding anyone who came to their home. You were never a stranger but always a friend, especially after sampling one of her baked treats and a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

In 1983, Mom & Dad moved to Helena, MT. For several years, they packed up their fifth-wheel camper and headed off to various places while Lloyd worked as a Diesel Mechanic on road construction. They made many friends and enjoyed the places they were able to visit. Even in that camper, Mom kept a fully stocked kitchen and kept that oven going.

Over the years, Connie had many hobbies. Her hands completed many crocheted afghans and you were very blessed to receive one. She enjoyed being in the kitchen and always was preparing something. Her garden kept her busy making pickles or jam or sauerkraut. She enjoyed canning fish or making Brats. Holidays always brought a kitchen full of candy and all the kids received boxes of cookies on a regular basis. For several years now, she has been known for her Chokecherry Wine and Apricot Brandy.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in July, 2008. Their son, Larry, and grandsons Christopher and Craig as well as her parents and brother Dale and twin sister Carol all preceded her.

She is survived by sons, Duane (Connie) and Alan (Susan) and daughter, Denise (Al) Trautman. Also surviving are her sisters Jeannie (Bob) Harris and Dorothy Ness. Her grandchildren Melissa (Dennis) Leithold, Deann Teigen, and Matthew Trautman as well as great grandsons Preston Teigen, Brendan and Gavin Leithold and Lane Teigen all survive.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Missoula Cemetery in Missoula.

My condolences to you and your family. I remember Connie and Uncle Dale as a kid. Very fond memories and I do remember her cookies.
