In Memory Of

Cora Agnes Moe

October 15, 1915 – April 27, 2012

Cora Agnes (Leininger) Moe peacefully entered Heaven on Friday, April 27, 2012 surrounded by her family, passing with the same grace and dignity with which she lived. She left behind her loving family and many dear friends.

Cora was born October 15, 1915 in Rockford, Ohio to Henry Lewis and Luella Jane (Loree) Leininger. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to southern Idaho. As a senior in high school, she earned a scholarship to Northwestern Business College in Spokane, Washington. While there, she met her future husband Robert F. Moe. When she moved to Palo Alto, California for a job, Bob followed her. They were married on November 11, 1936. Although an only child, she found a large and loving family among the Moes. Two of their three daughters, Roberta Louise and Mildred Jane, were born in California. After Bob’s service in the Merchant Marines during World War II, they moved to Spokane and eventually to Helena in 1947 where their youngest daughter, Coralie Sue, was born.

She learned to love and respect the outdoors when she married Bob, an avid outdoorsman. She and Bob spent countless hours hunting and fishing, and Bob joked about having to teach her not only to hunt and fish but even to cook. She found great joy in Bob’s company, and they enjoyed square dancing and traveling the world together. Always active, she and Bob were charter members of the Helena chapter of Sons of Norway. Her favorite hobbies were playing pinochle and traveling. In addition to visiting all 50 states, she and Bob traveled around Europe, the British Isles, Norway and Australia, to name a few, collecting souvenirs, including sand from the many oceans and seas they visited, along the way.

During her life, she had been employed by the IRS, the Girl Scouts and the Veterans Administration. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Helena and was active in their Women’s Fellowship group. She was also active in Church Women’s United, TOPS, Summit Club and Widowed Persons Services.

She lived her life on her own terms, aging with grace and dignity, even choosing her own time to move to Hunter’s Pointe, sell her car, and eventually move to Son Heaven. She loved her family and friends, and she found great joy in their visits, whether in person or over the phone. She always had a notebook handy, so whenever she got news, she could write it down and then notify other family and friends of the events.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years, Bob.
She is survived by daughters Bobbie Miller, Millie Johnson and Coralie (Joe) Sciuchetti; grandchildren Sheryl Hogan, Jason Miller, Connie (John) Huntsman, Bob Johnson, Rebecca (Ralf Muehlen) Johnson, Chuck Hunter, Caaren (Shaun) Cerise; and great grandchildren Rees (Betsy) Hogan, Brandon Cerise and Shannara Cora Cerise.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. on Monday, April 30th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1st at the funeral home with a reception to immediately follow in the social center of the funeral home. Burial will take place at Forestvale Cemetery and she will be buried with the sand she and Bob collected on their many adventures. Memorials in Cora’s name are suggested to the First Christian Church (311 Power St., Helena, MT 59601), Hospice of St. Peter’s (2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601) or the charity of your choice. Be proud and happy for the person she was. She set an example of how to age with grace. As with any parent, her passing was probably hard for you, but she lived a full life and she was at peace with her Lord.

I want to express my sincere sympathy for the loss of your loved one and share the hope promised in the Bible.
God has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and he has furnished a
guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead. (Acts 17:31)
If your heart yearns to see a loved one again, study the Bible to make this resurrection hope your very own.
