My dearest dad, I am sorry I didn’t know sooner. I woke up the morning of Aug 11th and had a sudden urge to call you and when I did your number no longer worked and I Googled your name and found this, it was the first thing that popped up! I had to call mom to make sure it was you, I didn’t even realize it was your birthday until she read the dates out loud. The one thing I didn’t know was your birthday! I think I already knew you were gone before I called that day. Things were complicated between you and I, but I never loved you any less, I wish you would have called instead of what you did maybe I could have helped!! I love you. Sincerely your only Daughter, your only blood Shawna Lea(well except for your granddaughter your grandson and you’re great granddaughter.)

Blonde curls and beautiful blue eyes, I met Gregg when we were teenagers in 1975. I’d think of him every August 11th I remember his love of cars, especially his dark blue 1968 Chevelle SS. He taught me how to drive a stick shift. He had a Kawasaki motorcycle but not the license yet so we used to take it through the field from his parents house to the store there in Fountainville, PA. I remember ice skating on the pond and hanging out at the local “game room.” He had a cat, named “Sylvester.” He was taking pilot lessons to learn how to fly. I think the last time I saw him was in 1982, by chance at a store, we spoke briefly, he seemed sad but I remember him wanting his daughter in his life. I lost contact with him and didn’t know he moved to Montana. I also remember him wanting to find his biological parents.

Every time I hear a car engine “revving up” I still think of Greg. He was my first love and he was very sweet and caring to me.
