Dean William Carter, age 76, of Helena passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 due to complications following a fall in April.
Dean was born to John “Persh” and Doloras Carter in Sidney, Montana on March 13, 1941 and grew up in Lambert, Montana. He graduated from Lambert High School, “The Lion’s Den”, in 1959.
Dean married Judy Mercer on September 15, 1963. From this marriage they had four children, Wade, Kim, Todd and Chris. They later divorced in February of 1986.
Dean worked for Associated foods. After many hard years of hard work and dedication, he retired from Asarco.
In his free time Dean enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, hanging out with his grandchildren, riding in the hills and telling stories of his hunting adventures.
Dean is survived by his children; Wade (Nikki) Carter, Kim Carter, Chris (Randi) Carter; sister, Sharon (Tony) Bjork; brothers, Don (Joyce) Carter and Phillip (Shauna) Carter; grandchildren, Tara Martens, Jake Martens, Katie Carter, Kody Carter, Courtney Carter, Karly Carter, Zachary Carter, and Karissa Carter; great grandchild, Emmet Marcille.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty; parents, Persh and Doloras Carter and son, Todd Carter.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave., with a reception to follow the service in the social hall of the funeral home. Burial will be held at Forestvale Cemetery after the reception. I was so shocked to hear of Dean passing. Living across the street from his mother in Lambert, I spent many hours having coffee with them. Every now and then we would talk politics, that was not pretty, but fun. Rest in peace Dean. Sympathy to the family.
