Deena Mae Gunstone, 63, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Big Sky Care Center with her best friend of the last fourteen years, Liza Guevin, by her side. She had been struggling with complications after open heart surgery in August.
A unique and witty lady, Deena’s greatest passion in life was her love of reading – anything and everything she could get her hands on – proof in her collection of thousands of books. She could’ve easily opened her own personal library! She also loved beading and had her beaded ornaments decorating her apartment. Deena enjoyed spending time chatting and hanging out with her friends at M.E. Anderson. Spook, her ‘non-human’ cat companion was never far from her mind and she was a huge animal lover. Deena also loved Montana’s great outdoors and her last wishes were to have her ashes spread near Alice Creek in Lincoln – a place of fond family memories.
Deena is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Irene Gunstone; her sister, Lenore (Claude) Baker; both of her brothers, Glenn (Wanda) Roberts and Elmer (Lou) Roberts.
Deena is survived by her sisters, Rosie (Jim) Cote and Ethel (Tim) Anderson; two nephews, Steve Cote and his children Jessica and Justin; and Cory Cote and his son Dillan; two nieces, Joey (Tony) Carter and their children Deon and Bree; and Lauri (Mike) Dalbec and their sons, Gabe and Gino; and cousins Betty Lou Gunstone and Bill (Elma) Gunstone.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, St. Peter’s Hospital, Big Sky Care Center and Rocky Mountain Hospice in Helena for their personal and loving care of Deena.
No funeral service is planned as she wanted her family to spread her ashes in Lincoln and for people to have a fun party to remember her. Friends at M.E. Anderson, 100 S. Warren St., in Helena are planning a remembrance potluck at the apartment building for Deena on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Deena was always cheerful and happy when she would come to the Daily Dinner Club for meals. I will miss seeing her on birthday dinners and other special holiday meals. May your good memories help you through this time of mourning.
