Deleno D. Hoge went to be with his Lord and Savior while at home on
July 1, 2024, in Helena, Montana.
Del was born in Helena to William F Hoge and Emma F Lemmer Hoge. The family lived in a cabin up White’s Gulch for two years and then moved to Helena Valley.
Del was a very hard worker and worked on the family farm. He picked potatoes, irrigated hay fields, worked livestock and worked on any vehicle or farm equipment.
He joined the Army National Guard in 1963 and served until 1967. He then joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1967-1970, where he was stationed in Würsburg, Germany for two years during his elistment.
Del returned home and married Bonnie Abel on June 20, 1972. They had 3 children: Kelly, Kris, and Keith. They lived in Helena Valley until 1979 and then moved to Nebraska. While there he worked as a Commercial Applicator for a fertilizer company spraying the corn crops of Nebraska. During his time there, Del sprayed more than 500,000 acres from 1979-1993. Del worked upwards of 16 hours a day in the spring and summer months. Del and Bonnie then moved back to Helena where he started working for the Department of Transportation for 10 years until he retired in 1999.
Del loved his animals; horses, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, and people. He could be stubborn, like all of the Hoge boys, but at the end of the day, he still showed how much he loved you. He had a big heart for everyone, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone.
He loved camping, hunting, nature, and being outdoors. He camped with the family in the winter and summer. Hunting for elk and deer with his friends, The Smith’s, was his favorite. He also loved lake camping on his boat with Ed and Raves.
Another favorite pastime was watching his children playing a variety of sports throughout their lives.
Del is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hoge, sons, Kris (Lisa) Hoge of Nebraska; and Keith Hoge of Virginia, grandchildren, Shaun (Tara) Timboe, Kyleigh Timboe,
Tawnee Filmore; Kreighton, Christian, Cameron Hoge; great grandchildren, Dyna, Jernie, and Harlen and several nieces and nephews.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Hoge, brothers William Hoge II, Wally Hoge, and Gary Hoge, sister Evelyn, daughter Kelly Lee Hoge and her son Matthew Harlen Timboe.
Del’s favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31 – They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up on wings of eagles, they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Del’s name are suggested to St Judes Children’s Hospital: 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Or to Warriors Project, c/o MT Supporting Soldiers, PO Box 4964, Helena, MT 59604. Please visit www.aswfuneralhome.com to offer the family condolences or to share a memory of Del.

I will always remember Del, he would come out to the ranch , he and my brothers would go and do…….and the Smith boys………too…..I was probly that obnoxious little sister that kept bugging all of them. But Del was always sweet and nice, and the stories all of these guys would tell…….and the antics they all got into! Some people leave an impression and Del is one of them for me. A good impression though, he will be missed………Bonnie and family, my deepest condolences to you, sending you much love and prayers………………………….

Oh, I am so sorry to see this. I’ve thought about both you guys almost every day driving down Applegate heading into town. Del was my favorite patient, but I think you probably already knew that. If there’s anything you need Bonnie, I’m always here for you. Del will be so missed. Big hugs to you and your family!

Bonnie, Keith, Chris and the rest of the family, I was deeply saddened to hear the passing of Del, He fit right in with our family and I sure miss all the old days of all of us gathering and laughing. I just wish I wasn’t so young to sit with y’all, but the memories will always live on.. I heard some great stories today about our families, and we truly were blessed with our family and all the loved ones who have came to join our family. I missed my cousins so much and it was so good to be with them today.. May God, hold you up and strengthen you during this difficult time. I love you and if you need anything, you know how to reach me. You’re always in my prayers .
