On the morning of November 28, 2017 Divinity “Vinny” Jeanette Dolecheck passed away after a very brave 20-month long battle with Leukemia while surrounded by family and friends at St. Peter’s Hospital. Vinny was 15 years old.
Vinny was born on May 22, 2002 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Montana. She was the first child of Dustin Dolecheck.
Vinny entered our lives a bright eyed beautiful blessing with the most contagious smile. She had the ability to find beauty in things the rest of us would take for granted and could always find a silver lining in any situation.
Vinny discovered her love of the outdoors at an early age with the help of her dad and grandpa. She enjoyed fishing trips and was an exceptional hunter. Winter was her favorite time of year when she could admire the beauty of the snow and frost.
Vinny had a love for makeup, nail polish, and all things purple. She took great pride in the makeovers and manicures that she gave to her friends and family. She had a gift of making everyone around her look and feel beautiful.
Hanging out with her friends was a favorite past time of Vin’s because she was the only lady in a house with three men, whom she adored. She enjoyed watching hockey games with her family and rooting for her favorite team, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In April 2016, Vin tossed her gloves to the ice and put on a barn burner of a scrap against cancer. During this toe-to-toe scrap she never looked back. Her only concern was always the well-being of her friends and family.
Vinny had a love for all animals, especially her beloved cat Franklin and dog Flynn. Franklin would spend countless hours by her side comforting and keeping her company, even visiting Vinny in the hospital. Flynn would spend time letting Vinny dress him up in women’s clothes and getting his nails painted.
During frequent stays at St. Peters Hospital she made friends with everyone she met. The staff would become a second family to her making it feel less like a hospital stay and more like home.
She was preceded in death by her sister Hazel Dolecheck, her grandma Sheryl Stovall, and her great-grandpa Frank Dolecheck.
She is survived by her dad, Dustin Dolecheck, her brother, Ace Dolecheck, her sister, Lexington Schoenborne, her grandpa Terry Dolecheck, and countless other family members and friends.
Vinny will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery next to her sister Hazel. Her family asks that any memorials in Divinity’s name can be made at Rocky Mountain Credit Union, 3400 N. Montana Ave., Helena, MT 59602.
The Family of Vinny would like to thank the community of Helena including Super 1 Foods and Helena School District for their support and monetary donations.
A huge thank you to Vin’s friends that visited and had sleep-overs at the hospital to make Vinny feel more comfortable.
Another big thank you to the Helena Bighorns hockey team for giving Vinny and her family and friends an awesome night out to remember.
Most of all, a very special thank you to Dr. Weiner and the entire staff at St. Peters Hospital for all the love and support they have given to Vinny and her family. You are all angels and your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
Our Vinny was a princess and a warrior. Her kindness, wit, and love of life touched everyone that had the privilege of meeting her. Most of all she was the best sister ever! She will be missed greatly by everyone.

I am so sorry for Vinny and all of you. I saw her at Frank & Lola’s get-togethers over the years, and she stood out… a force of nature. Divinity is her perfect name. Words seem so impossible.

My heart breaks. She was such a bright shining spirit. Vinny was always able to stand her ground, keep up with the boys hunting and never let her Grandpa, Dad or brother get the best of her. She never lost her battle because she never lost her hope. How she will be missed. Thank you everyone who have supported her and the people who cherished her. Sending me love and sympathy to Terry, Dustin and Ace and Lexi..

Dustin and family, we are so sorry for your loss! We hurt for all of you, as we have been where you are only 2 months ago ourselves when we lost Logan. Take comfort in knowing he is up there showing her the ropes of Heaven ?I loved seeing Vinny all done up pretty with her make up on with her nails all polished. She always had a huge smile and laugh for me when she would come through my line at Super 1. She will be greatly missed by many. We are here if need anything!
Catherine Srigley says
Our hearts are broken for the family and we are thinking of you and send our love and strength. We met Vinny while our daughter was also fighting cancer at St Peters and she was kind enough to tell Katana all the ups and downs of her battle and she also shared her spunky energy and personality which was a huge blessing for our family. We are forever greatful to have met her and may she rest in peace and fight no more. ((hugs)) to you all.
Clancie Thennis says
Dustin my friend …. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. There are no words to truly take away the pain in your heart and tears from your eyes. Take comfort in the knowing she is in Gods hands and she is no longer in pain but up there having the time of her life with Hazel. She was always a joy to see passing by my house waving at me when she was a little girl living a few houses down. She always liked seeing my dogs. She was a joy to see. I know I will see her big smile again some day and look forward to that day. Take comfort in the memories that can not be taken away from you. I send my love and send you blessings my friend.
Autumn Parsons says
I met Vinny when she was coming to our church for youth group…she was always so sweet and friendly to my children, and loved to hold my baby for me. It was beautiful to see her simple faith in Jesus…she knew she’d be going to heaven, because she had given her heart to Him.

Misty says
I remember the day you guys found you were expecting. And the day she was born, and all the days in between….Kayleigh and Divinity were born 22 days apart…Sadly, I didn’t get to know her as she grew into the wonderful young lady I’m told she became, but I always loved her just the same and will never forget the time I spent with her that first year or two. Words cannot even begin to express the ache I have in my heart for y’all. Just know that you have all been in my prayers since the beginning of this nightmare, and even before…..You guys were a part of my family, and although we grew apart, don’t think that ever changed…I’m always here if you need to talk or cry or someone to scream at….whatever. I love you all. Fly high baby girl….see you when we get there…
Mom says
Divinity sweet child. I know you know what I know and the visits are oh so sweet. What has blossomed in your passing and your place in eternity what parent could ask for more? You are home, forever, I pray for your Dad every single day and I pray for exactly what you asked me to. I was far from the best mother but in my messed up state I tried, you welcomed Jesus and loved him so and in his arms you found your rest. I can only hope all your siblings and the rest of us get to join you there. You were perfect in everyway and even in your death, love has bloomed. I love you, I call you daughter.
