In Memory Of

Donald G. Forgey, age 75

October 7, 1937 – September 3, 2013

Donald G. Forgey, 75, passed away in his home in Helena, Sept. 3, 2013. Services will be held at his home in Helena on Sept. 14, at 3 p.m.

Don was born Oct. 7, 1937, in Blaine County. As a young boy, his family moved to White Center, Wash. He attended Highline High School and joined the Navy as a teenager. He was stationed in San Diego, where he met his first wife, Joyce. They had two daughters, Brenda and Connie.

He later moved back to Washington and met his second wife, Karen. They also had two daughters, Theresa and Sarah.

Don was a welder at numerous shipyards in Washington state, including Pacific Car and Lockhead and was a member of the Boilermakers union. He continued to weld until he no longer could due to physical limitations.

He married his third wife, Doris, and owned the Boots Tavern in Black Diamond, Wash. They later moved to Deer Park, Wash. Don was the commander of the VFW Post in Deer Park from 2002 to 2006. He was very proud of the position and stepped up to the plate when no one else could do it.

In 2006, Don moved to Helena to reside with his daughters. He had a little house in Theresa’s backyard for the last seven years. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and his grandkids. He got to be close to all of them and watch the grandkids grow up. They were the light of his life. We will miss him walking in the back door every day, saying, “Is anybody home?” and the kids replying, “Just us flies on the wall.”

Don in survived by his daughter Brenda Guyman (Arden) of Mesquite, Nev., and granddaughters Emilinda and Melissa; daughter Connie Havens (Glen) of Prineville, Ore., grandson Bryan and granddaughters Samantha, April and Kristie; daughter Diane Kelsoe of Auburn, Wash., and granddaughter Madison; daughter Theresa Loney (Bart) of Helena, granddaughter Cheyanne, and grandsons Wyatt and Ross; and daughter Sarah Forgey of Helena, granddaughter Jessica and grandson Jordan; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.
